Congratulations, Satoshi Nakamoto and Zooko!

Satoshi Nakamoto revolutionized the field by developing Bitcoin, and Zooko did the same by creating Zcash; yet, what many overlook is the magnitude of the challenges, the time invested, the struggles, and the countless obstacles faced along the way.

Great discoveries entail great sacrifices. Major transformations demand the courage to face the unknown. And behind every great revolution lies someone who dared to believe when almost no one else did.

Congratulations, Satoshi Nakamoto and Zooko!!!

They weren’t the only ones, but the pioneers. I’m not limiting myself to just Nakamoto or Zooko. If I could, I would thank everyone involved—name by name, one by one. There are so many of them.

Thank you for this message, Mrs Nobody!

Bitcoin exposes the problems of fiat currency to the world, solves the P2P challenge, and educates many on financial economics. Meanwhile, Zcash exposes the vulnerabilities of a transparent system that lacks choice and fungibility, addresses B2P and B2B interactions, and inherits Bitcoin’s P2P capabilities. The two complement each other, and today, Zcash exposes Bitcoin’s own shortcomings to the world.

Never forget that we are here because Satoshi built Bitcoin privately, and privacy has always been the endgame.

I have deep admiration for everyone who brought Zcash to life, and also for those who have sustained this project through such difficult and uncertain times, always ready to fulfill the mission. Zooko is one of the original cypherpunks who has remained in the fight to this day, while others have stepped aside, others have strayed, and still others thought Bitcoin was the chosen one.

The Cypherpunk Manifesto is the manifesto of privacy. This manifesto mentions the word “privacy” 22 times and the word “private” twice.

If you have contributed to Zcash with code, community events, fighting the battle on Twitter, or supporting ZEC during the toughest times, then you are part of this victory.

Worth noting that Zooko did not create Zcash

Was going to say this but hesitated lol, glad to know this isn’t taboo to say as is the culture in many cryptocurrencies

Yes, I agree with your statement 100% love it. LUNC crash made me put eyes on crypto, but once I found Zcash on OkCoin back in Q1 of 2022. I been locking inn ever since because Privacy is freedom once I gain an understanding of ledgers and wallets privacy is a must. People told me they thought I was crazy talking about Zcash a few years ago think how I really gain my follow-on X lol.

Zcash faces many challenges and uncertainties. The higher the value of Zcash, the greater the attempts to exploit vulnerabilities.

In my view, it is precisely these challenges and efforts that make Zcash valuable. Zcash is not merely an altcoin, but a complex and advanced privacy tool—a form of encryption for Bitcoin’s transparent transactions. The price to pay is the challenge and effort involved in transforming Zcash into a revolutionary tool.

Long live Zcash!!!

I think one of the most interesting parts of this comparison is that Satoshi and Zooko were solving different layers of the same broader problem

Bitcoin showed that digital money could exist without a central issuer

Zcash pushed the idea further by asking another important question

If money is going to be digital and decentralized should our entire financial history also have to become public by default?

That is why I see Zcash as more than simply another cryptocurrency

-Scarcity matters
-Decentralization matters
-But privacy matters too

And I think the importance of that last part will become much clearer as more of the world moves toward fully digital money
