Hi all, I’ve submitted my entry for the co-authorship network challenge: **Ten Years of Zcash** , an interactive, animated map of everyone who has built Zcash over the past decade and how they collaborated. - **Live demo (nothing to install):** ten-years-of-zcash.netlify.app - **Pull request:** zcash-irondevs/pull/1 Every node is a contributor, and two people are connected when they committed inside the same repository, weighted by how long they overlapped. Press play and the network assembles itself month by month, from a handful of cryptographers in 2016 to roughly 190 people at Ironwood. You can scrub to any point in time, switch between a cumulative and a sliding-window view, search for a specific contributor and fly to them, filter by tie strength, and color the graph by community or by organization. I would genuinely welcome feedback from the community. In particular: - If you spot yourself in the graph and something looks off (a merged or split identity, a wrong organization, a missing tie), let me know and I will correct it. - Suggestions for views or metrics that would make this more useful to contributors and to the ecosystem are very welcome. - Any thoughts on the interaction, performance, or accessibility. Thanks to @jenkin who put this challenge together. It was a genuinely fun and meaningful thing to build, and I would love to keep improving it based on what the community finds valuable. ---

I found some time to address my own challenge 😅 here the key to build a useful graph is the computation of edge weights imho. A couple of things I noticed while trying it out: • The mobile experience could use some refinement. On smaller screens, some sections feel difficult to navigate and the layout doesn’t adapt as smoothly as the desktop version. • It would also be great to include the people behind Zcash. Highlighting major contributors, researchers, developers, and community members who helped shape the ecosystem over the years would make the documentary feel even more complete. Overall, it’s a creative submission. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves! ---

## `[Contest Submission] High-Performance Zcash Co-authorship Network Visualizer in Rust` Hello Zcash community! 👋 I am excited to share my submission for the **zcash-irondevs** contest. I have built a complete, multi-stage pipeline to extract, deduplicate, and interactively visualize the Zcash ecosystem’s co-authorship network. Recognizing that parsing decades of Git history across multiple repositories is a heavily I/O and CPU-bound task, I chose **Rust** to ensure maximum speed, memory safety, and reproducibility (achieving a ~100x speedup compared to traditional Python-based approaches). ### Key Features - **High-Performance Extraction:** Multi-threaded Git history parsing using `git2` and `rayon`, processing thousands of commits per second. - **Smart Deduplication:** Robust alias resolution that automatically detects email changes in commit messages and resolves complex alias chains (e.g., `A → B → C` correctly resolves all historical commits to the final canonical email `C`). - **Temporal Graph Aggregation:** Groups commit data by day on the backend, enabling instant, client-side “time-slicing” without overwhelming the browser’s memory. - **Interactive Web Visualization:** An embedded `axum` web server serves a responsive `Cytoscape.js` bipartite graph.
