Crosslink: Incentivized Feature Net

Round 2 payouts are complete! We distributed 25 ZEC in mining and staking rewards as well as discretionary awards for community contributions.

A total of 19.954 ZEC was distributed as non-discretionary rewards based on cTAZ earned through mining and staking during Round 2. These rewards went to 17 participants, with multiple wallet entries combined for each recipient. The average payout was 1.174 ZEC, the median was 0.771 ZEC, and the largest reward was 5.019 ZEC.

An additional 5.046 ZEC was distributed as discretionary rewards to eight contributors. We spread these awards across several people to recognize the testing, tooling, and community support that helped move the Round 2 Feature Net forward, while giving the MVPs a larger share.

MVPs

  • @zk_nd3r: Maintained ctaz.cash diagnostics and recovery snapshots, contributed networking and mining fixes, and investigated memory growth during finality stalls. Also spearheaded the community-led slash fork by quickly developing and deploying interfaces that helped users adopt it.

  • ssh: Built fork-mapping and divergence-checking tools, contributed wallet persistence and rollback functionality, and developed networking, memory, and headless-build fixes. Also encouraged participation in the community-led slash fork.

  • Jackson Rhodes: Diagnosed forks and crashes, operated community bootstrap infrastructure, contributed a visualization crash fix, and performed detailed memory profiling and testing of proposed fixes. Also helped test and recover nodes through network incidents and was an early adopter of the community-led slash fork.

Outstanding Contributors

  • @treasonous : Consistently tested releases and proposed fixes across two Macs, supplied crash logs and fork checks, and helped validate headless staking and wallet improvements. Also adopted the community-led slash fork early.

  • @dismad : Developed Crosslink utility tools and a Crosslink branch of a Zcash explorer. Persistently tested Ubuntu deployments, reported crashes and syncing problems, and verified staking and retargeting functionality.

  • @uscmigs : Built a Crosslink analytics indexer and published analyses of finality stalls, staking flows, and mining concentration. Also contributed wallet-sync tooling, investigated staking queries and syncing failures, and adopted the community-led slash fork early.

Active Participants

  • @yveee Provided detailed Ubuntu bug reports covering startup failures, chain divergence, recovery errors, and recurring crashes, and followed up with tests of workarounds and releases.

  • @jiggytom: Consistently tested Windows releases, documented memory growth and database failures, and helped investigate BFT stalls and evaluate proposed fixes.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Round 2!
