If you are not running a wallet, you could interact with a remote node; the electrumZ could query the low level blockchain addresses after the personal server interprets addresses and sees what they are on the zcash blockchain. But to prevent leakage of info, I would recommend running a private pruned node. I was just trying to say: it is possible for it to be run that way. My installer would not be doing it out of the box…
Ok. Someone mentioned this grant in the context of the ongoing infrastructure issues around public Lightwalletd servers.
However it seems to serve another purpose, doesn’t it?
It serves whatever purpose you make for a plugin to be run with it on the separate plugin server (to be sponsored by me, no charge, MIT); the most important one (to be tackled in a follow-up proposal…) is a wallet plugin that supports a Progressive Web App for an end-user wallet. [Remember: the installer beats you over the head that these be run on a DEDICATED device; I don’t buy using metamask with large amounts of money and browser zero-days arising from time to time…]
The wallet plugin, being BOSL, would be a separate grant…
A PWA wallet does not entice you to browse in separate tabs; and you shouldn’t be using a wallet device to do vicarious browsing.
[I find the usability of hardware wallets to be atrocious; fully functional wallets on dedicated devices only used to that ends is where it’s at in my book…]
I leave it to mobile developers to do implementations of wallets that you can run on Android and iOS. It might be OK to take a chance of a hack with $100, but people need more wallet options for “dedicated wallet devices” that only run a wallet with much higher amounts of money (and dedicated servers with continual monitoring and alerts, if you are doing transaction services…)
Hello @steve.b & Zcash Community, I am happy to announce that the @ZcashGrants Committee has unanimously voted to approve the grant proposal ElectrumZ .
UNANIMOUSLY -quite an honor!
Thank you all for your expression of confidence.
Now for the heavy lifting…
@steve.b & Zcash Community, the @ZcashGrants Committee has voted to terminate this grant due to inactivity and/or a lack of responsiveness. This grant will be removed from the grants platform and you will need to submit any future ZCG grant requests via Submittable.
Help! Where to get a list of public servers for Zcash-Electrum? Much needed.
Please let me know how I can refund the grant for the $600 plane ticket and attendance fee for Zcon.
That was intended to be a loan, not a gimme…
That money returned to you could help someone else attend this year’s zcon…
