Ensuring Flexibility and Sustainability of the Zcash Development Fund - Draft

Regarding your comments, I wholeheartedly agree with the following:

  • Combining funding approaches: A hybrid strategy of a declining funding curve along with real-time governance offers the best of both worlds. The decline incentivizes innovation and accountability, while real-time governance allows necessary flexibility for immediate adjustments.
  • Conditioning Universal Recipient status: The UR concept is powerful, but it absolutely must be tied to robust oversight and governance. A model like the Zcash Small Council (ZSC) and Zcash People’s Parliament (ZPP) could be instrumental in ensuring sound UR management. This oversight would protect ZEC holders and promote focused blockchain development.
  • Dynamic allocations: The initial allocation percentages will undoubtedly require adjustment. This ZIP aims to create a system where effective funding reallocation happens quickly. Success hinges on constantly evaluating performance – underperformers see reduced support, while those excelling could receive increased funding.

Additionally, I fully support the implementation of coin-weighted voting for critical governance decisions. This mechanism would further align funding allocation with the interests of ZEC holders. Previously this hasn’t been included in my proposals due to the lack of mechanism to provide coin weighted voting, but that feature is now in sight I believe it should play a pivotal role in decision making.
