>
> \### Project Summary
>
> We propose establishing the foundation of the Zcash Malawi community through a three city university outreach programme called Zcash Malawi University Game Nights.
>
> The programme will bring Zcash education, financial privacy awareness and community building directly to university students in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu.
>
> Instead of relying entirely on traditional workshops and presentations, we want to introduce Zcash through an engaging social experience combining educational demonstrations, chess, Bawo, draughts, interactive quizzes, pizza and networking.
>
> Our objective is to make Zcash accessible to students who may have little or no previous experience with privacy preserving cryptocurrencies.
> The initiative will also establish connections with students interested in blockchain technology, identify potential university ambassadors and create a foundation for a long term Zcash community in Malawi.
>
> We are not simply organizing three events. We want to birth the Zcash Malawi community and establish a foundation for long term ecosystem participation
>
> \### Project Description
>
> The project will establish the foundation of the Zcash Malawi community through a three city university outreach programme bringing Zcash education, financial privacy awareness and community building directly to university students across Malawi.
>
> The initiative will introduce Zcash through engaging social experiences combining:
>
> • Educational demonstrations on Zcash and financial privacy.
> • Practical wallet demonstrations and onboarding.
> • Traditional games including chess, Bawo and draughts competitions.
> • Interactive Zcash quizzes.
> • Pizza, refreshments and networking opportunities.
>
> The objective is to make Zcash accessible to students with little or no previous experience with privacy preserving cryptocurrencies. The project will establish connections with students interested in blockchain technology, identified potential university ambassadors and create a foundation for a long term Zcash community in Malawi.
>
> \### Proposed Problem
>
> Malawi has a growing interest in digital finance, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. However, opportunities to learn about privacy focused blockchain technologies remain limited, particularly within university communities.
>
> Many young people are familiar with cryptocurrency as an investment or trading opportunity but have limited exposure to the importance of financial privacy, zero knowledge technology and privacy preserving payments.
>
> Zcash provides an opportunity to introduce these concepts through a practical and accessible learning experience.
>
> We see universities as important starting points because they bring together students, developers, entrepreneurs and future technology leaders.
> Our approach is to establish an initial community in three major cities, build relationships with students and continue engagement beyond the funded activities.
>
>
> \### Proposed Solution
>
> The project will establish the foundation of the Zcash Malawi community through a three city university outreach programme bringing Zcash education, financial privacy awareness and community building directly to university students across Malawi.

> •	Educational demonstrations on Zcash and financial privacy.
> •	Practical wallet demonstrations and onboarding.
> •	Traditional games including chess, Bawo and draughts competitions.
> •	Interactive Zcash quizzes.
> •	Pizza, refreshments and networking opportunities.
>
> The approach combines accessible education with practical demonstrations and opportunities for students to remain connected with the Zcash Malawi community.
>
>
> \### Solution Format
>
> The project format was a set of three in person university game night events, supported by practical wallet demonstrations and post event community engagement.
>

We are requesting support from Zcash Community Grants to organize three university game night events in Malawi, covering Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu. The project will run for eight weeks, from **17 December 2026 to 10 February 2027** , including preparation, student mobilisation, event delivery, community engagement and final reporting.

The programme aims to introduce university students to Zcash, financial privacy and privacy-preserving digital payments. Many students in Malawi have limited opportunities to learn about financial privacy, blockchain technology and how shielded transactions work. Through this initiative, we want to make these topics easier to understand by combining education with practical demonstrations and interactive activities.

Each university game night will include educational sessions introducing Zcash, its privacy features and the importance of financial freedom. Participants will also have opportunities to see how Zcash wallets work, understand how to send and receive ZEC, and learn about shielded transactions through practical demonstrations.

To make the events engaging and encourage participation, we will include activities such as chess, Bawo, draughts, interactive quizzes, pizza and networking. These activities will create a relaxed environment where students can learn, interact with one another and ask questions about Zcash and financial privacy.

The first week will focus on preparation, including identifying university partners, securing venues, organizing materials and coordinating the event team. The following weeks will cover student mobilisation and delivery of the three university events in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu. The remaining period will focus on follow-up engagement, documentation, evaluation and preparation of the final report.

Beyond the events themselves, our goal is to establish a stronger Zcash presence among university students in Malawi. We want to encourage students to explore privacy-preserving technology, join the Zcash community and consider contributing to the ecosystem through education, development and community activities.

The project will also help us identify potential student ambassadors, developers and future contributors who can continue sharing knowledge about Zcash within their universities and local communities.

By the end of the eight-week programme, we aim to have delivered three successful university game night events, introduced more students to Zcash and its privacy features, increased awareness of shielded transactions, supported practical wallet learning and built connections with students who are interested in becoming long-term contributors to the Zcash ecosystem in Malawi.

**Project Start Date:** 17 December 2026

**Project Completion Date:** 10 February 2027

**Project Duration:** 8 Weeks
