I’m happy zcash didn’t promote a way to do tax evasion…
it’s maybe a short term appealing g thing, but it is illegal and risky. Bad idea to use a privacy coin for that
imo, this should be accomplished via friendly fork! while back zooko posted on twitter that he believes the zcash community should have a friendly fork once a year (as-long-as the new project is doing something interesting).
want a winning fork? lose transparent addresses, try adding different things the community would like to see (maybe attempt to deploy PoS, etc), and name the new fork zerocash. zerocash/zcash should also be interoperable. would also change economic engine to make zerocash more scarce.
What’s the point of zcash with having t-addr forever?
simple. you need confidential storage/transaction - you go z. you need to pay/receive funds to/from some place, that allows only transparent onchain transactions - you go t. you want to show your wealth - t. hide - z.
think there’s a decent sized contingency of people that like the transparent addresses (i do understand why some people like the option). definitely doesn’t seem to be a rush to shed them; don’t see it on any roadmap. eventually, a friendly fork might be in order. maybe turn it into a ZEC sidechain of sorts …zerocash might eventually become a tool that enhances zcash. time will tell!
There’s a few things missing from shielded that are important (viewkeys, multisig) & they’re working on it.
Taddrs should die when thats done, only reason to keep them is to satisfy snoopy people - viewkeys will be enough for snoopy authorised people.
