**Reminder that Overwinter activation is set for June 25th.** If you run a Zcash node, make sure you’re on 1.1.0 or later. [Download](https://z.cash/download.html) the latest version of zcashd and check out the new [user guide](http://zcash.readthedocs.io/en/latest/rtd_pages/rtd_docs/user_guide.html) while your at it.

Activity on the blog has been quiet these last two weeks but we have a slew of upcoming updates and educational posts on the back burner. Use the RSS feed at the top of the [blog](https://blog.z.cash) if you prefer to be notified with each new post.

**Events**

We’re hosting an [AMA](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/technical-ama-w-zcash-team-june-15-2018-noon-pst/29541) today at noon PST!

Last week, two Zcashers participated in a Zcash topical event as part of the [Bitcoin and Open Blockchain Community](https://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Open-Blockchain-Community-Chicago/events/251246352/) in Chicago.

We also attended and spoke at a [Crypto Developers Conference](https://www.facebook.com/events/203243990486151/) at Stanford.

Next week we’re presenting a deep dive [workshop for developers](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/20000-leagues-under-the-z-a-zcash-deep-dive-workshop-for-developers-tickets-46561666197) in London and participating at another Chicago-area event the [Fintank monthly blockchain/crypto meetup](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fintank-monthly-blockchaincrypto-meetup-tickets-46445578977).

Then the following week is a big one for the Zcash community: [Overwinter activation on June 25th](https://z.cash/upgrade/overwinter.html) & Zcon0 on June 26th-28th!

**Zcon0 & the Foundation**

The Foundation is wrapping up the last minute prep for Zcon0 which takes place in less than 2 weeks. There is still have a bit of space so if you want to make a last minute decision to [join us](https://z.cash.foundation/zcon/), make sure you fill out the application ASAP. The [schedule](https://z.cash.foundation/zcon/schedule/) is now live.

Today is the deadline for the full submissions of the Foundation grants. Check out the [proposals issues](https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/GrantProposals-2018Q2/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Ainvited-full+sort%3Aupdated-asc) and see if they need help or feedback.

With regards to the ongoing ASIC discussion, the foundation has been taking part in added information and context by conducting [research](https://z.cash.foundation//blog/asic-equihash-study/) and outlining [guidelines](https://z.cash.foundation//blog/hardware-transparency/) for hardware manufacturers.

The next few weeks will be pretty busy from Overwinter activation to Zcon0 and some 4th of July related vacations so, perhaps it’s worth anticipating slightly slower progress than usual. 🙂
