Quick status from LEONINE DAO.
We stood up real node infra this weekend not a slide, not a localhost demo. nozywallet.org is live. Zebrad + lightwalletd are running on a Contabo box. Long time coming used funds from my Dizzy wallet from discord 0.2394 ZEC thanks to @Michae2xl. Our VSP running on chain is mainnet. At the time of writing the public status page showed roughly 3.45M blocks and still syncing. First mainnet catch-up takes a while. We are not calling tip until the health cards say Online without Syncing.
What is public
- Org / health: !(https://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=nozywallet.org&sz=64)https://nozywallet.org
- Product: (https://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=nozywallet.com&sz=64)https://nozywallet.com](https://nozywallet.com/)
- Lightwalletd (TLS gRPC):
lwd.nozywallet.org:443— best-effort once height is honest; not an SLA yet - JSON-RPC: localhost only. We are not publishing Zebrad RPC.
- Companion API (
api.nozywallet.org): not deployed. That waits until this node is at tip, then we wire Nozy Hosted.
This box exists so NozyWallet mobile and the browser extension can talk to our node instead of a random public light wallet. Desktop and CLI stay first-class Local: keys on your machine, optional own Zebrad. One-liner on the site: Node for NozyWallet. Keys stay on Desktop/CLI unless you choose Hosted.
Honest trust, same as always: amounts stay shielded (Orchard / Ironwood). On Hosted, we can still see IP and when you sync or send. Today’s companion model may keep wallet files on our infra until device custody ships. If that is too much trust, use Desktop or CLI.
We are not a generic lightwalletd company and we are not hosting other people’s apps on this machine.
Why this helps Nym work
A lot of the Nym × Zcash work we have been measuring still leaned on someone else’s LWD (zec.rocks-class) for remote compact sync. That was fine for spikes and couldn’t got it done without zec.rock thanks if you see this.
Once this node is at tip, the plan is:
- Point Nozy dVPN / remote compact sync at
https://lwd.nozywallet.org:443instead of a third-party LWD. - Keep mixnet for small remote submits not bulk sync over the mixnet, and not sync+submit through the same hosted LWD a minute later.
- Extension + mobile: after sync, same Hosted path, companion API in front of this Zebrad, not a node picker.
That is how the VPS earns its keep: one operator domain we actually control, so Nym hygiene and Nozy Hosted are not two different trust stories.
Art on the page — Cypherpunk Zero and JunoPunks
Standing this up felt like the right moment to use NFTs we hold, not only screenshot them.
(https://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=nozywallet.org&sz=64)https://nozywallet.org](https://nozywallet.org/) has two pieces in production:
- Header mark: a JunoPunk — CosmWasm PFP on Juno (Cosmos). The mint was shut down when the market died. Only 21 were ever minted. LEONINE DAO holds 12. We are the largest holder of a collection that never got a second act.
- Faded in the back: a Cypherpunk Zero we hold — Stranger Wolf / ECC, the 2022 NU5 / Halo drop on Ethereum. Same story in a different costume: a Zcash-adjacent PFP drop that mostly went quiet after the mint.
Zero and JunoPunks both went through something. C0 was supposed to be stewardship + creative license after a shielded-memo whitelist; years later a lot of that art still just sits as an avatar, and OpenSea volume is thin. JunoPunks never even finished the mint, market conditions killed it at 21. We did not dump either. We kept them, and now that we finally have an operator site that is a real node, we put the art to work: logo and layout, not a floor-price widget.
Back when ECC posted the
Cypherpunk Zero megathread, the point was not only a free ETH mint. It was:
- 10,000 generative PFPs on Ethereum, six character types, 100+ attributes
- whitelist via Zcash shielded encrypted memos (the interesting part)
- holders as stewards of the privacy / self-sovereignty story
- and a license for holders to use, copy, display, and make derivative works from the art they own (subject to the actual terms)
That last item is what we are doing. Same for the JunoPunk in the header: CosmWasm on Juno, tiny supply, mint halted, still ours, still shown. If you hold C0 (or a dead-mint PFP like this) and have been wondering what the license is for, this is one answer: logos, backgrounds, docs, slides. Use the piece you own on something you actually ship.
No roadmap, no merch drop. Just two collections that got punched by the cycle, still held, now on a live Zcash node page.
LEONINE DAO / NozyWallet
LEONINE DAO is the org shipping name (GitHub / grants). NozyWallet is the product. This VPS is the start of our Hosted stack — Zebrad, LWD, then API, then extension and mobile pointed at it.
We want to expand this with the community: more reliable Hosted for people who will not run a node, cleaner Nym defaults, and Local still there for operators. Support, review, and “try the LWD when it is Online” all help. Questions and pushback welcome, especially on the trust copy.
Status JSON is public on the org page if you want to watch height move.
