AFAIK, pdf security isn’t very good and there are pdf password crackers that claim they can break it in seconds.

True, PDF security is weak generally, hence we chose integrating iText Core 7 which makes libraries meeting Digital signature standards for PDF encryption iText Core: an open-source PDF development library for Java and .NET.
