Green is good, and per my observation, the larger majority of investors are looking for passive income and growth in their crypto holdings.
One more reason I believe planning for PoS is important before finalizing ZSAs spec is that the architecture of the Zcash network needs to accomodate extensions like tokens, basic smart contracts. If ZSAs are added before, the developers need to also consider the migration of the tokens to PoS network, which can be quite complex.

It said at the bottom of the email with the Helios link that people would need to participate and at least vote abstain to retain their seat. I was watching the turnout and was kinda wondering about how many it would be
Did you go through then entire vote submission process and challenge/not challenge ballot screen ? When I voted I actually did not finish the voting process the first time and someone had to point out I didn’t actually vote. We got very good turnout, so this cannot be that much of a problem, but its annoying.
I’m not sure - likely user error on my part. My vote wouldn’t have changed the outcome but it is disappointing.

@zooko @Shawn I think the best way forward is to envision what would be the ideal scenario for zcash in a perfect world then work backwards.
For example, how do you see zcash being used in a perfect world and by who?
The community should write down examples. It doesn’t matter how “realistic”. The team takes the best and goes forward from there.
As a zcash holder I would also like a move into POS to be prioritized. A lot of the reason for other chains to get such notoriety is because “number go up”. If POS makes number go up then you will have a huge coalition of token holders who will help drive the message out.
Right now our community is small because zcash is not making any normies any money compared to other chains. Regardless of how much more useful it is.
Yes i know long term this project is not a money grab. But if you want long term longevity. You need to get those people who support the ETH and Solana’s of the world simply due to the financial rewards and bring them to the fold. Then you have a lot more minds to help you achieve your goal.
This is why I think POS should be a priority. Done well of course. You guys said 12 to 24 months. I know from experience unless all hands are on deck and make this priority #1 then 12 to 24months is really 36 to 72.

Yeah that is all well and good but look at the list. BSV, Dash, LTC. Those projects are old and stale. The new stuff that will have longevity like SOL are not in the list.
My thoughts are if you want longevity for ZEC you need to make price go up. Look at AMC and gamestop. By all intents and purposes those were obsolete business models and “number go up” now they are innovating again AND have a hardcore following who will no doubt consume their products to keep the brand alive

Yeah it might not be why ZEC was founded but it is what it needs to fulfill its value proposition. Make the price go up. Get a coalition of avid ZEC fans who will support all innovation on it. Then you can put all the bells and whistles you want.
And btw the way to make number go up is POS. That should be priority 1, 2 and 3.
While I am not entirely in agreement that POS is more important than ZSA’s, I am in agreement that the lack of growth in new users and continued modest price performance (ranked #72 now) is not helping.
I am hopeful the upcoming announcements and Zooko’s appearance with Vitalek at the Messari Conference will provide Zcash with some much needed good news.

I believe that the popular perception of cryptocurrencies as “Harmful To The Environment” is a dominant narrative that can be flipped in zcash’s favor, once we upgrade our consensus mechanism.
