I was unable to build an earlier release on Linux Mint and that system may not have had enough memory either… After that I switched to a system with more memory and Ubuntu 15.10 If you don’t want to install a different OS, perhaps you could try using Docker and see if this works for you - [https://minezcash.com/docker-zcash-install/](https://minezcash.com/docker-zcash-install/) I’m interested to know if that works for you. ---

It looks like your connection failed to download the proving key but you decided to compile anyway. You may need to delete your install and start with a clean slate. ---

Are you sure you have all the prerequisites installed before compiling? `sudo apt-get install \ build-essential pkg-config libgtest-dev libc6-dev m4 \ g++-multilib autoconf libtool ncurses-dev unzip git python \ zlib1g-dev wget bsdmainutils` Then `git clone https://github.com/zcash/zcash.git` Finally, (from inside the zcash folder) run; `git checkout zc.v0.11.2.z5 ./zcutil/fetch-params.sh` Make sure you have 4GB memory free for the compiler or it may fail ---

My first attempt at compiling zcash was on a Linux Mint system with 6GB and it wasn’t successful. Next was Ubuntu 15.10 with 16GB, which was fine. I’ve since tried it on a faster system but with only 8GB, which also worked but I noticed it was slower as some swap space was used - although I don’t recall if that was during the compile or running the tests… ---

I also tried on Mint with no luck, I’ve only had success with Ubuntu and Lubuntu. I actually prefer Lubuntu for my older PC’s because the OS itself uses less RAM. But for my Big PC I run Ubuntu and Lubuntu in VM’s. I want to learn Docker more to get rid of the OS overhead on my VM’s ---

If you can spare the time and if you’re curious enough (and if you have a windows VM…) can you try installing Docker on to windows and then see if the Zcash docker image (?) works with it? ---

The way I understand it is that the Docker container uses the kernel of the host PC, since the is no hypervisor you can’t run a separate OS than the host system. Since Zcash won’t work on Windows yet, Docker won’t help. Actually I’m not even sure you can run Docker on Windows at all? I’ll have to Google it… ---

The problem with native\_comparisontool is likely to be fixed in the next (z6) release. I do not know whether that will expose other problems; the developers use Debian and Ubuntu and so that’s obviously where build problems are likely to be ironed out first.
