Honestly, we cannot blame anyone who isn’t a Zcash expert from using whatever address is easiest for them. All of the different address types need to 100% be abstracted away eventually for normal users. The only thing people should have to worry about is “toggle on” privacy where they just select whether their txns are public or private. Anything beyond that is asking for too much from normal folks. We need to push hard for unified address adoption and simplification in as many Zcash wallets as possible. Some things can’t be solved with tech alone, we need coordination and petitioning for unified addresses with toggle on privacy everywhere.
I will call this one “Zcash almost gets a mention”
“In the late 2000s, we started to see the evolution of efficient techniques for building zero-knowledge proofs,” said Matthew D. Green, a cryptographer at John Hopkins University. “We got to the point where we realized, ‘Wait a second, there might actually be a way to use this in practice.”
AFP is a desinformation manufacturer. Medias are controlled. It is like in the movie Invasion Los Angeles…SLEEP, BUY, OBEY etc…We are in
Putting this here for the record… Not gonna sign up to read the whole thing. If anybody does, please share.
Though it’s noted he does not say whether he thinks this is either good or bad…
“…I actually have to say that I do think that it is technically possible to build an untraceable currency. Zcash, for instance, fully encrypts its blockchain. And if that catches on and there is truly untraceable money of the kind that people once mistakenly thought bitcoin was, but now for real, that could change societies in ways that are really hard to predict…”
“…but they are far less efficient as mediums of exchange”

Very nice piece…
I barely found this thread, but I just feel it is my duty to revive this tradition.
“Zcash is another prominent privacy-focused project that continues to search for its first breakthrough. Founded in 2016 by Zooko Wilcox, this blockchain is notable because it allows users to select whether or not to shield their transactions, i.e., make them private. This means that Zcash provides as much of a controlled experiment as possible in the world of crypto to test user appetites for privacy.”

“Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox tagged Binance CEO Richard Teng in a tweet on Tuesday: “You’re considering delisting Zcash!? What kind of world are you creating? Do you want your children to grow up in peace and prosperity, or a Black Mirror episode?”
Digital Currency Group founder Barry Silbert also shared several posts lamenting Binance’s decision to include Zcash on the list.
The sentiment was also echoed by Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet and Cosmos co-foudner Ethan Buchman, both of whom highlighted the importance of privacy.”
Woot woot! Lets go @zooko !!!
Privacy is the soul of crypto, and without it, nothing else we’re doing really matters.
“I’m excited that we have such strong enthusiasm and alignment in the Zcash community to make it a reality. But I’m also relieved that we can meet the moment and actually build highly scalable, unstoppable digital money. We don’t have time to wait for any more research or scientific advances. Fortunately, with Tachyon, we can build and deliver today.”
