Hi everyone - my apologies for the silence over the past few weeks. I have had very little free time. I will make sure that node rewards are sent tomorrow.
Hi! This PR will save some time ![]()
Sorry @emersonian , but a zaino node in leaderboard has a chance to receive anything? Because aa far as I know zaino doesnāt support donation addressesā¦
Hi!
Iāve updated my forked zaino to 0.2.0 version.
Use this branch which adds donation address support
just add to the config file, for example under
network = āMainnetā
donation_address = "your addressā
Ah! Have you proposed this change to upstream repository?

Thank you for your support and initiative.
Tomorrowā¦. Really??? ![]()
First off, my heartfelt apology to the many node operators here who have been waiting on me. The past month was very chaotic in my personal life, but that is no excuse for the delay in distributing the rewards here.
Thank you @Shawn for reminding everyone that I am running this unpaid on a volunteer basis but I still feel terrible for being offline for weeks.
I initially intended for this node reward proof-of-concept to be a six month commitment, which was meant to conclude with this March payout. I am in discussions with our donor regarding how to best proceed given my increasingly limited time.
March 2026 Rewards
50 nodes qualified for this reward, receiving $300 each (0.834 ZEC) for a total of 41.7 ZEC. Operators with multiple hostnames received the reward once. Due to data persistence limitations on our monitoring server, rewards were distributed based on statistics collected today.

Please remember that this node reward program is a proof-of-concept experiment, and reward distribution is voluntary. Rewards are not intended to be farmed, or as a way to make a profit. The rewards are meant to reimburse the time and expense it takes for one person to run one Zcash light wallet server.
When we began in September, the entire Zcash network only had 13 known light wallet servers. Thanks to your incredible participation in this experiment, 108 are online today!
Let me know if I can help somehow. ![]()
BTW, Iāve sent you a PR for node list updates on github
This list seems to be the same of leaderboard on hosh website, but two nodes based on official zaino implementation that doesnāt support donation addresses yet (one of them is mine, of course!).
Itās a shame, but I understand that managing these edge cases in a proof of concept is quite difficult.
You did a great job anyway, thank you!
Hello everyone. I unfortunately have lost all motivation to continue this experiment.
I recently discovered that an individual is gaming the reward system to a large degree. They are running many nodes to farm the rewards, stealing rewards from dozens of other participants, for many months.
After a difficult discussion with our donor, they requested that I return the remaining budget. I sent it, itās their money.
I am wrestling with my strong beliefs in privacy, verses how much information is responsible to disclose, even about a heartless person.
This has been an interesting and in many ways inspiring experiment. But my motivation is frankly crushed. You know who you are, and I hope that you use the money to benefit Zcash as it was intended for, rather than to enrich yourself.
Expect an update here soon with a retrospective on our six month experiment in rewarding Zcash node operators, including an analysis of how the system was gamed, reflections on what we learned, and suggestions for future attempts to incentivize decentralization.
Operators: the end of this reward program does not necessarily mean the end of your funding. I would love to see more ideas explored, informed by the lessons learned from our experiment here. I encourage you to apply for reasonable grants.
Please continue to advertise Zcash donation addresses from your servers, I have no doubt that our community will iterate on more ways to incentivize honest server operators in the future.
Thank you to all of our honest participants. It is wonderful that more people are now operating light wallet servers, and I hope that you continue to keep them online.
Thank you for the time you spent on this experiment, failures hurt, but they are also precious for advancing science and (social) engineering.
Onward!
We need to be aware that anything could happen, including what you mentioned. Weāll see which honest node operators will continue to decentralize the network, thanks to the support we have for the ecosystem, so we can keep contributing in some way.
My concern is: Will Hosh: Zcash Light Wallet Uptime continue to function even though this experiment has ended? We need at least a page listing the available nodes so the community can connect to whichever one they prefer.
Iāll be here to help and support whatever is needed, just as many others here have done.
Definitely. Iām all about tracking reliable operators and helping future initiatives to reward them, if only with uptime data and monitoring for now.
1 amaba zcashd
2 crosslink es basura.
Yeah, thanks to @alexxiy and zingo folks, the latest dev commit of zaino adds support to donation address! Node Details - Nodus: ZCash Light API Monitor
Yeah ![]()
Thanks for pointing me the direction. I havenāt thought about PR there because I didnāt believe that they will accept it ![]()
Iām also going to setup a wallet in a day or two and will create a workshop capcut apk for Android. If youāve conducted a workshop with any other tool for content, Iām open to options.
