In Zashi beta, we’re working on a related issue, which might or might not be the same as the issues discussed above in this thread — I can’t tell for sure. We’re doing this with the help of a group of friendly people whose goal is to help improve things for all zcashers rather than to allocate blame: The Secret Zashi Beta Testers Club! 
With their help, we’ve narrowed down this related issue, prioritised it, and found a good candidate solution. We just opened a ticket this morning which anyone can use to track progress on this related issue.
If there’s an issue in Nighthawk, we at ECC can’t diagnose, triage, and fix that ourselves. That’s up to the Nighthawk devs how to and whether to change something in Nighthawk. Our role is that we support the Zcash Core Libs that they use (which we also do for Edge, Unstoppable, and soon Brave!). It can be useful to compare different wallet behavior to help identify root causes of issues, though, again with the goal of helping all zcashers.
