If ZCG needs specialist expertise, **buy it in when needed**. They already did this with the [part-time DeFi Strategist](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/zcg-rfp-defi-strategist/52952): a contractor, on three-months probation, with an option to extend. The [May update](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/zcg-rfp-defi-strategist/52952/13) shows this has delivered. They did not need to create a permanent DeFi seat or committee. Good, more of that. It works for one-off needs too. The BTCPay multi-store grant itself says the code should be audited before shared hosts use it. That calls for [a scoped audit, bought once](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/btcpayserver-multi-account-and-0conf-mempool-notifications/55316/41), from people who do this for a living. **Buy the review. Don’t add a seat.** Based on the ZCG Meeting Minutes, can we actually see evidence that five members are the problem? Are grants delayed because they cannot cope? Are reviews superficial? Do approvals and rejections explain what applicants need to improve, and signal what kinds of work ZCG wants to see more of? If we read [both parts of the 31 August minutes](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/zcash-community-grants-meeting-minutes-8-31-2026/57394), we find examples of how applications are actually handled. ZCG declined a Zebra testing proposal after ecosystem feedback that the tool had been tried ,and produced more noise than value. It told a mobile-money applicant the integration could be valuable, but to reuse existing payment components rather than rebuild the whole stack. Feedback like that, to applicants and would-be applicants, matters. It is what an expert grants committee is for. The BTCPay approvals look brief because the [design argument happened here, in public](https://forum.zcashcommunity.com/t/btcpayserver-multi-account-and-0conf-mempool-notifications/55316), in August. The grant that followed built the answer in. My reading is this: **five is not the bottleneck**. The ZCG treasury being worth more USD does not show that the committee needs to be bigger. It shows that ZCG has more money to allocate. And it is allocating it with care. ---
