Hello Zcashers! Zingo Labs is requesting funding to run a hackfest in Rome that aligns with and amplifies the benefits of ZEC Dev Summit, EuroCrypt, and ZKProof8. Exciting to see Zingo Labs pushing the ecosystem forward with hackathons. Wallets are the foundation - apps build on top. We’re working on ZChat (shielded messenger), and better wallet infrastructure directly helps our development. The more robust the Zaino stack becomes, the more applications become possible. Hello community. This update is long overdue! The hackfest in Rome was a great success! Long time collaborators from distant places met for the first time, and we got heads down on integrating Nym into zingolib! Thanks to the investment by the ZCG, Zingo and other wallets that use zingolib, can send transactions to the consensus network over the Nym mixnet. This gives Zcash end users the state of the art in network privacy for their Zcash transactions! We’ll be posting more information over the coming week to clarify what is _now_ available to Zcash Users that would not have been without this ZCG grant. Some readers have asked what this grant cost for the work it produced, so here is the arithmetic. ZCG paid $25,500.23. ### Seven participants worked full time in Rome for two weeks. At 40 hours per week, that comes to 7 × 2 × 40 = 560 participant hours, or about $45.54 per hour. If you count weekends as well, at 8 hours a day for 14 days, the figure falls to about $32.53 per hour. #### That figure is not a wage. The budget covered air travel, housing, conference tickets, and visa fees. A fair comparison therefore asks what it costs to bring eight people together in one city for two weeks. Travel and housing make up nearly all of that cost. #### The time in Rome also bought more than code. The participants attended the Zcash Dev Summit, ZKProof8, and EuroCrypt, and they formed new connections that will serve Zcash well beyond these two weeks. #### The code is already delivered. zingolib wallets can now send transactions to the consensus network over the Nym mixnet. Look forward to a more direct presentation of User-facing value. ---

[This report](https://claude.ai/artifact/M1FadujtMe2QK7QrRHAfdE) critiqued this grant on the grounds that there wasn’t an adequate follow up report informing the community of the resulting benefits. As can be seen above that error has been corrected with a thorough update on the results of the work.
