I built: [Trace Any Bitcoin, Ethereum or Solana Address | ztrash.com](https://ztrash.com/trace)

Paste any eth / btc / sol address (or a .eth / .sol name). It shows who paid it, what it paid, labels where public labels exist, priced at the rate of the day. Right under it, the same four fields on a real shielded zcash tx (spoiler: not much is shown).

A few examples:

- tornado cash 0.1 pool: [Tornado Cash: 0.1 ETH pool: what a stranger sees | ztrash](https://ztrash.com/trace/602a97b0-5340-45bc-a58c-955870d714d9)
- the genesis address: [1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa: what a stranger sees | ztrash](https://ztrash.com/trace/0515c13e-c2cb-4c8c-a5a3-0fc17935cb96)
- binance hot wallet 14: [Binance 14 (hot wallet): what a stranger sees | ztrash](https://ztrash.com/trace/47662f66-f636-46d5-a7c7-5bb8f0c3e337)

The shielded side is a real tx, not a mockup: [https://blockchair.com/zcash/transaction/9666ad999cedc622a5a90cae3f9d821e50834136c1543b721694ad2f1c5cd84a](https://blockchair.com/zcash/transaction/9666ad999cedc622a5a90cae3f9d821e50834136c1543b721694ad2f1c5cd84a)

It says what it doesn’t know. Every number names its window, spot-priced tokens say so, labels are public heuristics (blockscout, growthepie, ofac, graphsense) and nothing on the page is an accusation. All keyless public explorers, nothing goes to a chainalysis-type api. No account, no cookie, snapshots delete after 90 days.

Paste your own and tell me where it’s wrong. That’s what I’m after.

Two goals with this tool:

1. Raise awareness of blockchain transparency to convince people to use Zcash
2. Get people to use ztrash temporary inboxes (paid with the shielded tx on the right, $1)

This is pretty cool. I agree more people need to learn that blockchains are way too transparent.

We’ve been working on Trace, the free explorer on [ztrash.com](http://ztrash.com). The idea is to show people how much their transparent wallets give away. This week it got cross-chain tracking.

What’s new:

- Follows swaps through THORChain, Across and NEAR Intents (ZEC swaps included), and you can keep tracing on the other chain
- Every swap has a “Check on chain” button. It reads the actual transactions and confirms the deposit and payout match what the bridge says. If it can’t confirm it, it calls it a lead
- Every address gets its own page with balance, activity, counterparties, screening and cross-chain transfers

No account, nothing to install, and we don’t log who looks up what.

We wrote up a real example. One wallet investigators tied to the recent Ledger reseller drain got 14 NEAR Intents swaps from ZEC into USDC on Ethereum. Trace confirms every payout to the exact amount. What it can’t confirm is the link from the stolen funds to those ZEC deposits, because that hop went through the shielded pool. The only thing tying the two sides together is amounts and timing.

That’s kind of the point. Transparent chains are an open book, and so are the transparent edges of Zcash. Shielded Zcash isn’t. If Trace shows you more about your own wallet than you’d like, the answer is the same one this forum has been giving for years: shield.

Try it on any Bitcoin, Ethereum or transparent Zcash address: [Your Wallet Has Receipts | Trace | ztrash.com](https://ztrash.com/trace)

Feedback welcome, especially on wording. We only want to show what the chain actually proves.

Read the Ledger write-up, it’s really careful. The “a swap report is a claim by NEAR” framing is spot on.

I’ve been staring at the same data for a refund checker I’m building, so here are a few spots where I think “Check on chain” could end up saying more (or less) than the chain does:

- Refunded swaps. The money goes back on the origin chain, to the refund address, so checking the destination side finds nothing. Worth looking at the origin chain before calling it a lead.
- If that refund address is a u1 (like all 14 in your example), a refund only proves coins went into the shielded pool. Same for ZEC payouts to a shielded address. I’d word it as “entered the shielded pool” rather than “arrived”.
- The Omni bridge indexer lags. On 18 Oct I found 10 outbound transfers it still listed as signed that the destination contract had already marked paid. If you lean on the indexer’s status anywhere, asking the contract is safer.
- Locked order accounts. NEAR Intents’ operators can lock an order’s account, and then the money just sits in intents.near. It’s not paid or refunded, and it’s not really “pending” either. “Held, only the operator can move it” is closer to the truth.

Happy to share tx examples for any of these if it helps.
