Anyone interested in trying a new light wallet?

It works with either version.

It should sync faster because the wallet is bottlenecked by the network (on my phone).

Update for the beta testers

  • faster sync
  • background sync. Initial sync runs even if the phone is on stand by or you are using another app.
  • smoother scrolling between tabs @ChileBob
  • budget tab, charts
  • themes

lol - I just tested v1.0.6-33, like 15 minutes ago!!! I’ll nuke it & go again

EDIT: Doing Nighthawk at the moment, they pinged me last night with a new release

EDIT: NightHawk v1.0.20 , testing that now…
‘Downloading’ - 32m 42s
‘Scanning’ - in progress
FAILED!!! (After syncing for 6 hours)

  • Zwallet v1.0.6-35 (Beta) 3 minutes, 39 seconds
  • ZECwallet v1.7.0 : 7 minutes, 21 seconds (no birthday block given)

Zwallet scrolling is smooth & wonderful :+1:

Some typos :-
‘Synching’ should be ‘Syncing’ - (I missed that last time, sorry!)
‘Spendings’ should be ‘Payments’ (Budget)

Now that’s progress!

I think the @ZcashGrants committee should consider supporting proactively such fruitful engagements.

@hanh : Am I correct that clearing the ‘Retrieve Transaction Details’ box will stop it from requesting memos? So the only thing the server learns is your connecting IP address & doesn’t know which blocks have your txns.

If so, how about adding some text about that ? Its an extra privacy thing & we all like privacy

Speaking for myself, I really don’t need to get memos on my phone so would turn that off - they’re nice but not necessary.

Edit: I would also turn off the ‘Open In Explorer’ option when looking at transaction history, that leaks my IP and TXN to the explorer webserver. I’m sure the folks at zcha.in are nice but I would rather they didn’t know.

My device resyncs from either server at just over 5 mins so not too bad.

Both of the spellings are ok and of equal use.

We do! I thought that people who care would already know and the people who don’t care would be confused by the explanation. hehe.

If the option is turned off, memos and outgoing addresses cannot be obtained.

I will leave the “Open in Explorer” option because one can simply not use it. The “Retrieve Tx details” checkbox is present because the app does not prompt the user.

I don’t really mind because tx data is encrypted, and the only info leak is the timestamp. You could also connect to your own lightwalletd. This is really the best solution.

(FYI ZW always retrieves tx details).

Funding would be nice for marketing, bug bounties and iOS publication.

Are there any bugs left to fix before we push to production?

Not found any so far - I have more time tomorrow & will try to recruit a few more testers.

EDIT: Disturbed to learn how many people I know use iThings…

I’m getting a “Not enough balance” error when I try to send, is this a confirmations thing? Or a bug?
Also when I try to input the amount to send, whatever number I enter (regardless of where the cursor is) will default to either an integer or zatoshi spot so I have to delete digits until the total is correct.

Overall, I really like this wallet, the fact that it displays individual notes is HUGE to me

This “Not enough balance” looks like a bug (unless you have inflight transaction). I have hit it once but it went away after rescan. I was not able to reproduce it afterward and it’s been annoying me since. If you have a reproduction scenario, that would be extremely helpful.

About the send input box, I usually tap the box and then type the amount in mZEC, letting the app place the decimal point.

What version are you using? It’s in the about box at the very bottom, after the disclaimer.

version 1.0.4+23
I am performing a rescan as we speak, hopefully this fixes the balance error. I will post in a minute after the rescan is done to let you know if anything has changed.

This version is quite old. Please join the beta. I have stopped pushing updates to production because of the time it takes for Google to review them.

Updating right now

FYI, it will support “coin control” (like in Bitcoin Core) soon.

After the update, everything is fully functional and the input is very easy as you said to do it, I am definitely a fan of this wallet. :100: :100: :100:

Thanks

Build 37 is out, with Coin Control.

No more features planned before v1 release!

Idea for the next version…

Could you display the viewkey as a QR code and also import a viewkey by scanning it?

This would allow a wallet to easily ‘recruit’ others & act as an informal point of sale (ie: in a marketplace) where many wallets receive funds to a common account they can’t spend from.

I am not sure I understand your scenario. Why not share the address?

Scenario…there’s a market stall where four people work selling bananas, the owner and three employees.

The owner makes a wallet to receive funds, then displays it’s viewkey as a QR and his employees scan it.

Result: The owner controls the wallet, all four can receive funds into that wallet from customers, all can see all transactions.

Interesting thing with the Notes tab…that will correspond to each sale (until they split), a bit like a cash register.

I tweaked the UI of the backup page and import seed a bit in the latest beta. You can see your vk there.
