Anyone interested in trying a new light wallet?

New update just spins elliptically and never opens

Existing Zecwallet lite wallets re-scan from the birthday height after initial sync which for mine was at 846295 and didn’t take but two minutes (roundabouts) but ya know thats on a per case basis.

I was really mean with my test wallet, they all started from zero (evil cackle!)

By some weird twist of fate its birthday is within 50 blocks of yours!

EDIT: Now running v1.0.5-31 - nice !!

EDIT A few typos in the ‘About’ text…

‘Zwallet only support shielded account’…should be…‘Zwallet only supports shielded accounts, although you can send to any type of Zcash address’

‘If you don’t have a backup, you would lose’…should be… ‘If you don’t have a backup you will lose your money if your phone breaks.’…better… ‘If you don’t have a backup and your phone breaks YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY’

EDIT: If you need help getting this into Spanish let me know

Did you clear your storage? These pre release don’t migrate user data.

Zecwallet also separates note decryption from witness calculation. As a result, when your balance shows correctly all your funds are not available to spend yet.

No, where’s that? Uninstalling and permant deleting from trash (which I think does the same thing) doesnt help. I may not have access to that file with a non-rooted phone. (I didn’t move any funds yet anyways so theres no issue with that)

Yes, it does the same thing. Are you on the beta channel?

Edit: maybe it doesn’t… To clear storage, open app info, select storage, then clear storage.

The wallet should remain synced automatically and catch up quickly even after long periods of inactivity. That one was the major blocker for me and convinced me to build a wallet from the ground up. Users should be able to open the wallet app and immediately interact with it (< 5 s).

This has also been my biggest frustration with Zcash wallets. The long sync times make them nearly unusable. Getting syncing right is fundamental to providing a good UX.

I tried your app @hanh and everything worked great. Very fast. The two-tap transparent to shielded feature is a nice touch. Great work!

The Zcash ecosystem doesn’t have a wallet yet with great speed, great privacy and great design/usability. I’d really like to see a wallet nail all three.

Any interest in teaming up with a designer? I would be interested in designing a slick interface for your wallet.

Deleted me.hanh.zwallet in android/data/, seems to be the only file, no effect and no new file was created while it spun. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same and yes beta.

the data is in /data/user/0/me.hanh.zwallet/databases/zec.db

But I think it’s easier to clear storage from the app info page.

After reinstalling it lists no memory used in the app info and I’ll look more but i don’t think I have access to that user directory idk

You don’t need access. Google “how to clear app storage on android”…

Small UI thing on v1.0.5-31

Swiping between Account, Notes & History is inconsistent - the swipe doesn’t work from Notes or History if the part of the screen you touch contains data.

Think that can be fixed by wrapping the (Recycler?) element in another container…not sure.

It is by android design. This allows you to scroll the table if your screen is too small.

Yeah…scrolling up/down works perfectly…its when you swipe left/right to switch between Accounts/Notes/History.

You can only grab parts of the screen that don’t have table data. It works properly when you only have a few transactions as there are empty spaces but once the page is full it stops working. Its very subtle, but irritating.

Scrolling up/down works exactly as it should - I like the way you can also set how long the tables are on each page.

They designed it this way to let you scroll tables horizontally too. In case, the table is too wide.

I put a little bit of padding so that you have a few pixels of blank space on each side. You can use that to start the swipe.

Does Zwallet use the ‘standard-out-of-the-box’ version of lightwalletd, the tweaked ZECwallet version, or maybe both ? Rebuilding my test node & want to use Zwallet on my own server.
