I didn’t mean to suggest a total Zcash takeover is happening (nor do I welcome one), I shared that reference because its a fairly common corporate governance shake-up that occurs when companies seemingly are being badly mismanaged.
In Zcash as we all know, there are power structures and a handful of individuals who command authority that can’t be effectively challenged (this is different from publicly traded companies). Jay describes this Zcash dilemma correctly, for substantive change to happen, the powers in seats at ZF and ECC would need to have a change of heart and actively redistribute their power and influence.
The budding ideas about a Zenate would ideally be a rebalancing of power, and would introduce a direct stakeholder interests feature to the current governance model.
you are taking an activist position to effect changes you want.
Usually from a corporate perspective, the activist will have to buy a large % of stock and try to effectuate change for the purpose of making the company better so that the share price increases. Their interests tend to be highly aligned with shareholders. Managements of companies typically don’t like activists because they are usually overpaid and not delivering for shareholders.
In the case of zcash activism, people don’t have to buy zec to effectuate change. this is because of no voting and no connection to governance. so you can push for a “zenate” and possibly get some change without having to risk much if any of your own capital. this means if your wrong, you don’t really lose anything. zec holders do…My preference is for the way it works in the corporate world. but this way doesn’t have to have a bad outcome either. maybe a good outcome can result.
correct me if i’m wrong; but i believe the two proposals were about how to either spend or allocate dev fund money or how to get access to money. I wasn’t seeing the connection between either proposal and how it leads to a higher zec price. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. it’s just not clear and seemed to be more about control of blockrewards/funding.
The issue is the same for both however. how is the money being spent, for whose benefit, and are the zecholders getting what they paid for ultimately as represented by the token price. we want the peope running things to act for the benefit of zec holders.
Are you asserting that I’m not a ZEC holder? If so, it’s kind of an odd assumption, but nonetheless you can rest easy my friend as I have skin in the game.
