Hello Zcash Community!
There has been significant community discussion on the content of the NU7 upgrade and the timeline of deployment of the various proposed inclusions. One of the outcomes of the discussions has been to complete the merge of the code for different features into their own long-term-feature branches, for better future maintenance. The other supported outcome has been for the set up and maintenance of feature testnets with various inclusions, to allow users with interest in trying out features to do so and showcase their interest.
The main deliverable of this grant proposal is a feature testnet for development features that are not in NU7: ZSA and NSM.
Adjustments and maintenance required due to the new extensible transaction format and the new quantum recoverability key structure will be implemented. In addition, tools to interact with the features on the testnet and create transactions under the new format will also be provided.
The availability of such a testnet would serve as an outlet for interest in features, but also as a way to catch unforeseen issues with newer proposals before they make it into the “main” testnet-mainnet deployment. In addition, this allows for testing of the interaction between these different features.
We are assigning a small but accomplished set of engineering resources towards this effort. The full grant proposal has been posted to GitHub. We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Best,
The QEDIT Team.
