Fireice_uk stole code from Cake wallet

https://github.com/hhanh00/zkool2/pull/766/files#diff-3998b2d130f78c4163606781dda7a6194a0f232c2964d68bbca6490e3ff469f6R2

This is not acceptable. Please remove it or Vik will be forced to file a DMCA.

The referenced file is here, in a repository licensed as MIT. So the file is open source, and anyone can use those files in derivative works.

Putting aside whether or not there is enough similarity between the two files to claim that it is a “substantial portion” (as I presume the Flatpak manifest format imposes significant structure on every such file, and the app-specific parts look pretty routine to the point that I wonder how similar both files are to other Flatpak manifests), if it was indeed copied then the only thing Zkool2 needs to do is satisfy the MIT license, which means including the copyright notice and permissions notice somewhere.

How can a project stole code from a MIT licensed project that it explicitly references to?

Aside from the points made by @str4d and @jenkin, all commits are by @hyperlander.
…also be sure to search the Cake Wallet repository for Ywallet and Zkool. Much of Cake Wallet’s Zcash implementation was similarly “stolen”. So now the collaboration/exchange runs both ways. Great! Welcome to the world of free software. :person_shrugging:

Both @VikCake and @sethforprivacy are here and active on the forums.

We don’t need new random anon accounts making threats, if there is really an issue then they can speak for themselves.

This. We have no issues with others using any of our code, that’s the beauty of FOSS

We have benefitted (and properly credited) from @hanh’s amazing work on Ywallet/Zkool in our Zcash implementation, and the Zcash community is free to use our code as it’s all MIT licensed. A rising tide lifts all boats!

Thanks Shawn. I actually don’t check this forum much. But yes, as Seth said we are fully MIT open source license so anyone can use our code.

I would ask that this post be deleted. It looks like it’s just created to cause friction.

Yep.. anyone can use our open source code. And i hope they do!

I think deletion is exactly not the way to go here. Let this stirring of the pot backfire, and may the thread serve as a beacon of understanding. It is illustrative of the stoking that keeps coming up from the shadows, and might prompt people to ask themselves “what is this?” instead of being infected by the mind worm.
