I am a big fan of ZCASH, was good to integrate ZEC into gem wallet that is focused on open source and privacy goes well with ZEC ideology.
Hi everyone — a quick update on Gem Wallet’s Zcash integration.
Since our original post, we’ve continued improving ZEC support:
To clarify our current scope, Gem Wallet supports transparent Zcash addresses and transactions. Shielded Sapling and Orchard transactions are not currently supported.
We’re also verifying compatibility with the recent NU6.2 network upgrade before making a formal compatibility claim. I’ll share another update once our engineering team confirms post-upgrade sending and receiving on the latest production builds.
If anyone here currently uses Gem Wallet with ZEC, we’d appreciate hearing about your experience—particularly with sending, receiving, or swaps. Thanks!
Hi everyone — following up on my previous compatibility update.
We have now successfully completed a transparent ZEC transaction after Ironwood activation. Gem’s public Zcash backend is synchronized beyond the activation height and reports the Ironwood consensus branch ID (37a5165b):

Gem’s current scope remains transparent ZEC addresses and transactions only. Shielded transactions and Orchard-to-Ironwood migration are not yet supported.
We are still confirming the exact Zebra build used by our managed node providers, so this confirms post-Ironwood transparent transaction compatibility rather than a specific backend version.
