Let’s talk about ASIC mining

It’s obvious that ASIC’s seized ZEC, 40% of all ZEC mined on this pool (t1XE1kWtsZAemy123KCcv2z3Fonbksnupka) right now. While Foundation trying to negotiate with wolves we can observe real face of all manufacturers (since no one will take the blame, I will blame them all). 673 Mh\s at peak and it’s only beginning

So who is this former Asic defender?

boxalex I think. As I know his point: he was pro-ASIC and now pro-PoS

Don’t be surprised that ZcashCo relation owns such address as they appear to have a stake in ASIC, this project is becoming more like Paycoin (Paycoin: The Scam that Was - YouTube) everyday fraudulent…they even let Bminer scammer post here which as been proven to be a scam Zcash miner.

bminer is a scam and its proven?

link please?

Scam, perhaps… it works and mines like it says it does. However it has been reported, documented, screen shots to show a higher H/s rate than what the pool actually shows and in some cases more than the GPU itself has been known to achieve.
There is information her(search) on the zcash forums as well as bitcointalk.org

The higher hashrate is due to the dev fee which is included in the output in the console. In my own testing I show less rejected shares than dstm.

So you’ll have to take 2% dev and take out your pool fee. Even then you’ll need to look at your actual shares.

this is discussed to death on their own bitcointalk ANN thread… .

Yes it is discussed ALOT, but here is my 2 cents and thoughts

From my 30 minutes using the software back when it was first brought to my attention

If Bminer is showing 812 H/s and the pool is showing 754 H/s from a 1080ti , 2% of 812H/s is 16 H/s.

812 - 16 = 796 and again the pool is showing 754 and is like that on all the cards within a +/- 1% variation

and not seeing this on EWBF or DSTM… I smell seafood

Talking about centralisation Bitmain hacked and all customer data stolen.

What has this to do with Asic Mining?

I personally think it’s a scam but even if Bitmain’s data was stolen, this happens. It isn’t the first data security breach and it won’t be the last one …

Actually no real harm done as there isn’t a credit card payment option on Bitmain, so in best case they got emails, name and adress, way less of what you can buy on the darknet allready with bank info, credit cards, whatever…

What this info has to do with Asic Mining is out of my reach …

When a real threat is a threat, it’s just like that. I agree that this new pool (Innosilicon) is a threat, not even a doubt about that.

I have said it in a previous post that testing Asics with lower hashrates (<10%) should/could be tolerated but this gone t1XE1kWtsZAemy123KCcv2z3Fonbksnupka goes to far, totally agree with that.

That’s why i’am asking for clear rules the suspects (Innosilicon, Bitmain, other Asics) have to follow and Zcash should try enforce this at all cost and in my opinion they are in the position to enforce it as the main coin on equihash. One of these rules could/should be that “testing” and even further mining must be below a certain percent level, be it 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% …

If they (Asic Producers) don’t follow such rules than Zcash should take measures to counter such 50% hidden secret mining pool activities.

In case it works out the first time a project would have shown power with dialog and enforcing its rules on Asics instead of just “fleeing”. It could be worth a try. In case it does not work out the only option should be an emergency tweak/softfork/hardfork/ and after that research and work toward POS to eleminate further such cases as they would occur for sure again with only a matter of time when. I’am 50/50 on that if all Asics would follow or if there would be always 1 that doesn’t follow, but eventually it’s worth a try.

Why not Bitmain? I missed something or Innosilicon already confessed?

Because Innosilicon is the most likely one after they said they have them ready after they are shipping them since 10th June, so they must be somewhere online for “testing” and their Announcment was exactly 1 or 2 days after that unknown pool showed up the first time.

So far we have the following miners ready/announced:

  • Bitmain Z9 mini, ready, shipped
  • Innosilicon A9 Zmaster 50k, ready, shipping
  • Asicminer 40k by Asicminer, announced, shipping July
  • Bitmain Z9 (normal), announced

Just following common logic. I understand that Bitmain is obviously your biggest enemy and most hated, but in this case i’am betting that this is an Innosilicon pool, doesn’t exclude of course the possibility it could be Asicminer, Bitmain or a new player on equihash.

Well, I understand, that you bought Z9 mini and will try hard to defend Bitmain. My common logic says, that all ASIC manufacturers compromised by this pool and no one will take the blame

Why should i defend Bitmain with 1x Z9 mini purchased? It’s not that i’am getting 100 so i should be concerned about whatever, lol.

Well, we will see who will be responsible for that pool, not that it does really matter for you …

If you are not concerned about $2000 loss i can envy you. And for me it’s already doesn’t matter, yes, I hold some ZEC but now mine ETH, waiting for the ASIC-free ZEC net.

As said, it’s a $ 2000 riks investement that i made and when you make a risk investement or whatever investment in generally someone should be aware that he can lose it, not that i think i will lose it, but of course their is the possibility.

Just be ensured that this $2.000 investment won’t make me a blind follower or i wouldn’t vote and advocate POS anywhere by now… And if you had readed what i wrote carefully you would have noticed that Zcash should pressure the Asic manufactures … but again, not that you really care about it … Seems more you are trying to look for every given opportunity to call me out …

Yeah, call you out, haha. Try to count your post’s in this thread and you be surprised

Makes you wonder. You both joined the same day May 3rd. You Absolute29 has 55 post in this thread. While boxalex has 401 post in this thread. So it does make you wonder what boxalex is up to. He’s only been here for a little over 1 month. How many other members been here for a month with that many post in this thread defending Asic. But what do I know. Nothing just watching this go on.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s clear for me long ago that boxalex pro-ASIC/Bitmain and personally i have nothing wrong with this, he defend his investments,me-mine. But now we can see how ASIC’s screwed ZEC with pre-mine and no one can tell who’s to blame (Bitmain, Innosilicon or others). RIP GPU mining and hail,ASIC’s
