Live in Zashi: Decentralized Off-Ramp for Shielded ZEC

Thanks Josh!

Another quick question for the Zashi team, when Tor is enabled, which of the following are routed through Tor right now?

  • Light wallet servers (presumably yes)
  • Exchange rates (presumably yes)
  • NEAR (I think it actually might be using Tor from what I see in the source code)
  • Coinbase (presumably no)
  • Flexa (presumably no)

Consider removing “third-party APIs” from the “Beta: Tor Protection” screen unless all of these are a yes. Also consider disabling non-Tor-proxied features when Tor is enabled, as a user I never want an IP to leak silently when Tor is enabled.

Thanks for the quick responses I hope this isn’t annoying, I’m in a very “UX study” mindset today.

From NEAR:

  • This uses NEAR’s 1Click API right? - Yes

  • Are IPs logged, user agents? - We don’t log IPs or user-agents

  • how long are the T addresses used for ZEC deposits cached on their server? - They’re derived only, so we don’t store them on our side

  • You may already use NEAR API over TOR, you may already access the internet the onion network/exit nodes
