No you criticize the ECC which is in fact all of them, you don’t know how teams work obviously
Let’s keep it civil.
Insinuating that the efforts of the team were somehow in spite of the management and leadership is a little bit difficult for me to contemplate and with that I bid this particular thread adieu.
All his points he made towards ECC management are argumented and make even sense, at least for community members that don’t live in an echo chamber of Zcash cheerleaders.
The fact alone that Zcash dropped by market cap from a place in the top 15 to rank #31 shows that something is utterly wrong.
I’am well aware that open criticism is unpopular and makes us immediatly outsiders in the Zcash community and that such posts like the OP’s one get immediatly flak and/or are ignored, no matter there are a lot of valid points he made.
The ECC management isn’t doing good work and i can add a whole other list here of failures and wrong decisions taken by them: Beginning from the compensation that had to be paid secretly to Simon (no transparency here!), over to the initial investors that funded the ECC with 2 - 3 millions and got back a fortune later, up to a totally wrong choosen emission rate from start that hurts the ECC themself most. There are a lot more total failures and wrong decisions made but as such posts get ignored anyway it doesn’t even make sense to waste time to write it …
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that ECC management and some of the engineers might not always have seen eye to eye on every issue. Do you really think that replacing management would do anything other than cause a huge amount of disruption to the engineering work you are praising?
Management of a company like ECC have a hugely difficult job. I wouldn’t want to do it. I have confidence in the current management.
Either I do not understand what is written in the post at the beginning, or I do not understand the comments.
As far as I understand, the post says that, subject to further work as it is, success has a minimal chance, because with any team work, the result will deteriorate from the current situation (there is no money because there is no strategy for the company to succeed, there will be many updates and events that will not will bring nothing but time and money) The strategy of the company is determined by leadership, are you ready to say that the current situation suits you and zcash is where it should?
What will happen if this situation continues for another 2-3 years, I mean the price reduction, and the development of other projects in the process?
Is there a real chance that all this does not affect success in general? If funding ends, what time will this team work for free to fix the situation?
There is no personal attack in the post, but there is a vision of the situation as a whole and the reasons that brought us here, this is my opinion after reading, the author may have had something else.
Everyone hopes that the price will rise next year, I do not believe in it, and I do not believe that the price will be stable, because a sharp increase and a return to low values do not suit the company and the fund in terms of financing.
Your’re a bit biased Daira as you’ve had a working/friendly relationship with management for many years. See: https://davidsarah.livejournal.com/992.html#comments
I’m sure you are well compensated(equity in ECC/LA/FR) for your efforts and change would indeed be disruptive for you.
Thank you for saying that, Daira. It means a lot to me coming from you. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but I’m glad we’ve devoted ourselves to this shared mission. ![]()
I believe I’ve known Zooko Wilcox for longer than that link suggests — since 2002 when we both contributed to Mixminion, possibly. (I had a different name then; it was before I transitioned.) I’ve also known Nathan Wilcox since I was at Least Authority, if I’m remembering correctly. You’re quite right that I should have declared that potential bias. It doesn’t contradict anything I said.
I believe a hypothetical change in the management of ECC would not have any direct effect on my allocation of FR, except to the extent that its value might be affected by changes in the ZEC price.
