Retroactive Grant Application - Any Wallet Kit: Zcash in an open-source multichain wallet SDK

Hi everyone,

I’ve submitted a retroactive grant application to the Coinholder Grants Program for the Zcash integration in Any Wallet Kit (AWK).

GitHub issue: Retroactive Grant Application - Any Wallet Kit: Zcash in an open-source multichain wallet SDK · Issue #91 · Financial-Privacy-Foundation/ZcashCoinholderGrantsProgram · GitHub
Requested: $5,000 (Integration)

What AWK is
Any Wallet Kit is an open-source (Apache-2.0) TypeScript SDK that teams use to ship self-custodial wallets on React Native, web and Node. It covers 36 networks, and every transaction is decoded and simulated before signing.

What was built (October 2026)

  • ZEC accounts on the standard path m/44’/133’/0’/0/i, so addresses match Zashi/ZODL, YWallet, Ledger and Trezor.
  • v5 transactions (ZIP-225/ZIP-244) built and signed in pure TypeScript, pinned against mined mainnet transactions, with ZIP-317 fees and a fee cap.
  • ZEC swaps to and from 29 chains through NEAR Intents, so users of any AWK-based wallet can get into ZEC from EVM chains, Solana, TON or Tron in one step.
  • Published on npm as @anywalletkit/wallet-zcash, with 50 unit tests and 238 checks inside the React Native runtime.

Proof

Being upfront about the stage
This release is transparent-only: sending to shielded addresses is refused with a clear error rather than handled silently. The mobile wallet built on the kit is pre-launch, so user numbers are still small. What this grant covers is the open integration itself, which any wallet team can adopt today.

What’s next
Shielded support is the next step. I plan to propose a reusable shielded (Ironwood) layer built on the official Zcash SDKs to ZCG separately; it is not part of this request.

Feedback is very welcome, especially from wallet teams: what would make this most useful for you, and what would you want to see before shielded support?

Thanks,
Danya
