This is the Zcash forum, yet users have no way of associating their Zcash addresses with their usernames.
If I wrote a plugin/patch for Discourse to allow a custom field for forum users to have a Zcash address on their forum profile, would the forum administrator be open to using it?
The field would make sure that only a valid Zcash UA is included, no (non-UA) T-addresses.
Currently anything you input under “Name” in settings shows on your profile, including hyperlinks. Users can show their address that way or there may be a plugin to have more user filled fields. I’ll look into it.
If not I would not be opposed to having a custom plugin for it.
Fair. Can it be securely shortened though? Or do you have a better alternative in mind?
I recall shortened GPG keys were created to be more more human readable, which is nice, but they were also insecure as it did not take much computing power to generate a collision.
we can use a transparent address and post the addy and viewing key to the forum. you could even pin the transparent address, and everyone can post their Identifier with their u addy.
I added a new optional public profile field: “Zaddress”, but since I’m logged in as admin on mobile, I can’t test it at the moment, anyone care to look?
