It’s Roman Storm here. As my trial begins on July 14, we’re facing an unexpected hurdle:
What started as a planned 2-week trial is now expected to last 3-4 weeks due to complex legal arguments and unforeseen witnesses and evidence. This means higher expenses for expert testimonies, thorough research, and my committed legal team.
I’m pushing to raise an additional $1.5M as our updated fundraising target to sustain this fight.
Your support truly matters in safeguarding creativity and privacy from undue interference.
I’m truly grateful for all the support and love I’ve received during this ordeal.
I’ll match what we can come up with, up to 250 ZEC. I want this to be sent from the Zcash Community. Who’s up to do this? We need to defend our fighters, it’s so basic. I really wish we could vote and send from the dev fund as well, btw @aquietinvestor. It’s impact marketing.
I don’t see any way to donate with Zcash on freeromanstorm.com though. Do we have any contact over there? Adding Giving Block shouldn’t be too much trouble for them.
Roman’s supporters have a Zcash donation address, but for some reason they only provide it upon request. This shows how big the misunderstanding of privacy architecture is among the general audience.
BTW, according to the stated goals of Zcash Community Grants (ZIP-1015), the community funds are intended solely to fund projects that contribute to the development of the Zcash ecosystem and the spread of financial privacy. Sponsorships and charitable donations are not listed among the areas the fund can be spent on, and therefore do not fall under the committee’s mandate.
I believe this is absolutely the right thing to do. If we, as a community, want to contribute to good causes, we should do it from our personal means.
I disagree, but evidently I’d respect what the stakeholders majority sees as the right way forward. The way I see is, the fund is there to propel Zcash forward. Defending privacy in code and in law is certainly a key pillar of that objective. So, as always, looking forward to the day we can vote on those matters.
Meanwhile, if anyone want to dedicate some of their ZEC to this, on behalf of the Zcash Community, I’ll be there to match your contribution.
Before considering a shielded Zcash donation (especially to a cause directly related to cryptocurrency privacy) I’d like to see the recipient publicly show some support for Zcash by posting a donation address on their website.
We shouldn’t have to email to them to make a request. Their current setup shows public support for many coins but excludes Zcash. I don’t like that.
