Someone is doing some work to break equihash without open source, will it cause unfair mining? Is sha256 the best pow algorithm? I think unfair is not the faith of zcash for the first time.
sha256 just an example
Equihash has already been decided upon and is unlikely to change to some other algorithm. SHA-256 is horrible in that it is not ASIC resistant. Quite the opposite.

compute bound: Hashcash with SHA256
memory-bandwidth bound: Equihash
memory-latency bound: Cuckoo Cycle
