Disconnect from the internet, you are already owned. Further more, I don’t appreciate your constant negative attitudes.
I was hoping that during the zcashd
deprecation, zcash would use the opportunity to redesign its network protocol and get rid of the old Bitcoin-inspired protocol. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.
Sounds like zebrad was quite a lot of work already and was sorely needed on multiple fronts. Possibly also redesigning the network protocol was too much in one go. I don’t know though, just my perception.
It certainly could still be redesigned. If you think this could address the problem discussed here, let’s discuss it. Stakeholders funding is hopefully coming soon, it could probably help gathering the necessary resources to make this happen.
Just in case you’re thinking I’m amongst those “privacy pros” @paulbrigner, I don’t think I’m that. I’m privacy dependent; I need it and therefore I’m just being particularly cautious in that area.
Yeah, Nym is an interesting angle for sure. It seems to me that Tor is a lot more hardened and proven but it’s good to explore alternatives as well. Keep us in the loop of your findings!
Oh, I just remembered something you may find interesting in your explorations @paulbrigner and also anyone interested to deploy their own Zcash servers while not compromising their privacy.
Some governments may interpret connections to Tor or Nym as people up to no good. There are ways to be stealthy while using those protocols, but that’s not necessarily the case natively.
Connecting to Tailscale is a very neutral connection, and then nobody can tell you are exiting through Mullvad VPN, one of the highest rated privacy VPN. I’d argue it’s the best, but that’s just me.

@outgoing.doze, you are a privacy pro!
I think running a node to sync up tx is fine but not for submitting your own. it d be good to have some kind of batch delaying mixing and tor service for added privacy though it would come with it’s drawbacks
