Hi Josh. I want to clarify a couple things from your recent updates:
I believe this statement misrepresents what I said on the Arborist call. We’re not advocating for the NSM to be prioritized over zcashd deprecation. My point was that if zcashd deprecation gets delayed, say to 2026, we don’t want that to hold up the implementation of the NSM if there’s consensus to include it in a future network upgrade.
Shielded Labs is not racing ahead with the implementation of the NSM and Crosslink without considering fees, distribution, user incentives, and long-term security. We recognize these as important factors. Regarding Crosslink, we will discuss these aspects as we progress towards development, but our current focus is on the project scope. For the NSM, we’ve intentionally separated implementing its basic functionality from fees and disbursements because we believe these considerations require serious discussion and should ultimately be decisions for the community to make after the NSM is operational.
