Key Takeaways:

Open Grant Proposals

  • “Zcash Privacy Academy” Course
    • This grant request is for $7,000. This project aims to create an educational online course that will help users: understand financial privacy and its importance, learn how Zcash privacy mechanisms work (zk-SNARKs, shielded transactions, viewing keys), and how to use Zcash securely in real-world scenarios (trading, donations, payroll payments, etc.). Participants will earn ZEC grants or vouchers as rewards for completing tests with the goal of increasing adoption and privacy practices for Zcash users. Members were asked to provide their feedback and vote on this grant request.
    • Artkor: I think that some aspects of this proposal overlap with the work of ZecHub. In 2025, neural networks have become the main tool for finding information. These services are a primary research option instead, with traditional search engines verifying. There is no shortage of theoretical information today and Internet users can ask any questions and receive good quality answers without spending much time. In my opinion, we need not just useful materials about privacy but importantly, creators should have their own audiences. Just having materials won’t create an audience that will access the useful information. Therefore, we are open to all privacy and technology promoters who have an audience and a group of listeners. Otherwise, it becomes a less compelling proposal. I vote to reject.
    • Jason: Very well said, I agree with you. I reject.
    • ZeroDartz: AI tools really help people these days. I don’t see the point to fund this. I reject.
    • Brian: I reject.
    • Gguy: I reject as well.
    • This proposal has been unanimously rejected.
  • Zcash RPC Request Builder
    • This proposal aims to create an open source web application that simplifies interacting with Zcash RPC nodes by providing a user friendly interface with real-time input validation, multiple format, request, previews and response, and visualization. The tool will support all Zcash RPC methods and offer deployment options for local environments and public posting, which helps developers test and debug RPC requests more easily. They’re asking for $15,000 which covers two months of full-time development to build, deploy and document the tool. Members were asked to provide their feedback and vote on this grant request.
    • Artkor: I thank the requestor for this proposal but right now I haven’t seen much demand for what is being proposed. I hope the requestor will keep an eye out for future requests. I reject.
    • Brian: I mostly agree with Artkor. I don’t think that there’s a large need for this at this point in time and I might feel differently if it was oriented towards Zebra, or something that the community is actually excited about. I reject.
    • Gguy: Conrado posted a link about the Zebra book and the open Open API specification. That documentation shows that we kind of do have a little bit of tooling like this already. I can’t imagine this will help increase the user base or usefulness of existing tools. I’d prefer we focus on improving the existing documentation and tooling. I’m not interested in funding this proposal in its current form.
    • ZeroDartz: I also don’t see much point because something similar is already available for Zebra. I reject as well.
    • Jason: I’ll vote to reject this as well for the reasons that many of you highlighted.
    • This proposal has been unanimously rejected.
