Zcash Developer Relations Engineer

Extended Report

Zcashd Deprecation

  • Outreach to Zcashd users:

    • We finished curating and prioritizing a list of 44 contacts.
      • Tier 1: parties we already have a direct contact with
        • Tier 2: parties we don’t have a direct contact with but that are featured in ZecHub
        • Tier 3: parties we don’t’ have a direct contact with but
      • We’ve reached out to tiers 1 and 2. And we are starting to reach out to tier 3 contacts. This is a feedback loop where we constantly nudge these entities and follow up with them.
      • @pili has been putting together the feedback we’ve received from Exchanges and anonymizing that information.
    • Reports:
    • Development:
  • Outreach & coordination: TEX address parsing support on exchanges and wallets (hopefully) last mile

    • Following up with ZIP-320 support
      • EDGE updated to latest ECC frameworks mid-october
      • Unstoppable to update before halving
      • Zingo deployed TEX support on Zingolib 1.8.0 and cascading to mobile apps
  • NU6 rollout.

    • Followed up with Shielded wallet developers to know their status for NU6.
      • EDGE: Ready
      • NightHawk: In development
      • Unstoppable: In development
      • Ywallet: Ready.
      • Zingo: In development
  • Development:

    • Get Ledger Hardware wallet support to the finish line and Get it done.
      • @ZingoLabs was working on a huge refactor of their keystore design. I was blocked from working on this further down until those changes were done. I tabled this until they finished it and got to other work instead (librustzcash#1411)
    • Maintain Existing projects
      • Update CI on Kotlin BIP-39
      • Zcash Payment URI Library on Maven Central
        • This enables Android and Java applications to use Zcash ZIP-321 library in their code.
        • Automating this was really time consuming but I finally got it. Thanks to Carter Jernigan for his foundational work in Kotlin BIP-39 that documented how this is done with good practices.
  • DevRel:

    • I attended Avalanche Summit in Buenos Aires (Oct 15-18th) with @mrkit2u to promote the Zcash <> Avax bridge red·bridge.
      • Zcash had great reception and red·bridge was considered a strategic project by AVAX community leaders.
      • Connected with MercadoBitcoin representatives. They are interested in integrating Zcash and we will be working with Zcash Brasil community members to get this done.
      • RouteScan, an AVAX-centered DeFi block explorer, showed interest in integrating Zcash. Such integration would be very beneficial for red·bridge since it would help users to explore their transactions end-to-end.
    • My First Zcash:
      • Reviewed Chapter 5 and 6 of v1 and provided feedback for enhancements
  • Fixed tasks:
