Seems like we should not be rushing into anything. I really would like to see ZEC on a DEX; but we need to understand the platform needs and timeline as it relates to the top priorities (ZSAs, stablecoins, POS, etc), costs, and migration to more privacy. If Maya is a T address, it seems like a bandaid we really dont need right now; most people want to deprecate the T address dont they? On the other hand, if Maya supports Z address and will make it easy to add in ZSAs/stablecoins and help build out the ecosystem as defined from ZeBoot, the cost is right, and it doesnât impair or risk over committing the already very tight resources, maybe it makes sense to proceed with caution as we know DEX is in the future of Zcash, its just timing it right. We just need to make sure not to overcommit. ZGC should be building a war chest right now to make sure they can handle the reduced funding that is on the horizon from the halving.
???
Zcash has been not rushing into anything since the start. See how well thatâs worked out.
Haste is needed.
Have you seen the balance sheet of these orgs? We need to make sure its prioritized and money not wasted and they dont over commit and become insolvent. A halving is coming. Funds are tight. They have rushed into a lot of things. Did you see how much was spent on vidoes and other things that were done prematurely (probably millions). What about Thorchain? Didnt we give a lot of money for that DEX (sounds like its a 0 now)? If the goal is to deprecate T address, or whatever is done now conflicts with ZSAs, or other plans, it might not make sense. So, haste is not needed at all. Thoughtful execution is needed. A DEX is nice. It adds liquidity. But the real value is in the products. The DEX just makes it easier trade. It definitely adds value; but Im not entirely sure how much. Im not convinced DEX is a game changer (its positive for sure). While I am convinced ZSAs, staablecoins, POS, sync times or even progamability are real high value added developments that will likely make ZEC worth a lot more. So do we have the funding, how much will it cost, will it take away funding from more important things? [I would really like to see an ecosystem evolve (and maybe im dreaming) where 3rd parties just fund things like this themselves and charge a trading fee to recover their investment (and more). If it works, they do well and it adds value to the ecosystem. They are taking on the risk and should get rewarded by the fees they charge. ]
Yes, many bad decisions. Thankfully changes are afoot with recent departures.
Haste is absolutely necessary but with an emphasis on focus.
Those terrible grants serve as a good benchmark/reminder for what not to do. Sometimes it needs to be spelled out (even if you or I knew they were a bad idea ahead of time).
i personally feel like we should freeze everything and just wait for Zebra, and then concentrate at making it the killer app for Zcash. easy integrations, multi platform, voting, apps for Arti and Tails, Official wallet etc etcâŚ
ZSA is not going to do it for us⌠in my opinion its just big expectations.
POS yea is good, but it can make things only worse, if its not coming with the proper infrastructure ready for easy Staking.
for example NOT cli wallet staking that works only on Linux xD
I donât know what exactly this integration would require, but from @kayabaNerve 's comment, itâs not blocked on Zebra.
FROST for Zcash is almost ready (the first stable release should be out this week or in the next) and the Zcash integration is waiting for ZIP-312 being accepted (itâs under review). Itâs extremely likely it will be ready by the time someone starts working on this.
For what itâs worth, integrating with TC or MP would most likely not require a grant from Ywallet.
Are there any updates on the potential of this integration?
Itâs progressing. Thereâs a PR open in the maya repo rn. Follow along here!
Thank you!
