Zcash Ukraine – Monthly Report (September 1–30, 2025)

Summary

September was one of the most active months so far. We organized a dynamic offline event — the Zcash Basketball Tournament, ramped up social media output, grew our audience, and made valuable strategic adjustments.

After evaluating potential Sybil risks, we canceled the planned Zealy campaign and instead started developing a Zcash-themed board game that can be replicated and localized across the global community.

Date & Location: September 20, Glooby Park, Dnipro, Ukraine
Participants: 15 players + referee & photographer

Format:

  • 1.5 hours of 5v5 basketball games

  • 1 hour privacy talk: “What is Zcash & Why Private Payments Matter”

Participation Requirement:
All 15 players downloaded the Zashi wallet and received ZEC rewards

Branded Rewards:

  • Stickers, promo items, Zcash swag for all participants

  • Zcash MVP T-shirt for the best-performing player

Outcomes:

  • 15 new active Zashi wallets

  • Positive feedback on UX, speed, and ease of use

  • Instagram post reached 4.5k views

  • One player plans to use their ZEC to subscribe to NymVPN

  • We received a surprising collaboration offer from Red Bull Ukraine for future events

  • Strong visual materials collected for future promo campaigns

Strategy Shifts & New Experiments

  • Offline events = successful onboarding — 100% of players installed Zashi

  • Branding through sport = emotional connection with the Zcash mission

  • Zealy campaign canceled due to high Sybil attack risk from airdrop hunters

  • Instead, we’re developing a Zcash-themed board game (inspired by “The Bunker”)

  • The game will be translated to English and shared with the global Zcash community

Budget Note

During event execution, we discovered that the approved budget was insufficient to cover all discussed branded merchandise and promotional materials.

Important: There were no delays in DAO payments — the issue arose from a miscalculation by the coordinator, who underestimated real production costs. As a result, part of the costs had to be covered personally to preserve event quality and brand consistency.

We acknowledge this was an internal planning error, and moving forward, we will apply stricter budgeting and cost verification when forecasting expenses.

Ongoing Work

  • Testing and refining the board game format

  • Preparing the next October meetup based around the game

  • Continuing SEO optimization and weekly content publication

  • Transitioning to autumn/winter event formats — more intimate and educational

Closing Thoughts

The summer season is over, but Zcash Ukraine is not slowing down. We’re entering a deeper phase: game-based learning, warm community discussions, and long-term onboarding.

Zcash in Ukraine is no longer just a name — it’s a lived experience.
And we’re just getting started :yellow_heart:
