Any update on Windows node and wallet?

I have a beta at https://zcash4win.com
It’s at zcash 1.0.6 right now…I’ve got zcash itself updated to 1.0.7-1, and am updating the GUI to the 1.0.7+ compatible one from Vaklinov upstream. I’ve been slowed down by non-zcash consulting to pay the bills (donate at MercerWeiss Consulting — Independent Cryptocurrency Developer so I can spend more time on zcash stuff!)

Yeah, I just started using this and I’m really liking it. Was using Jaxx before, but was having a lot of annoying problems.

Does that seem wise considering the current issue with Poloneix? I’d say probably not. Perhaps a little patience until the developer of said wallet can chime in. It’s only been a half hour. I’m sure @anon47418038 will be around shortly :wink:

This happens sometimes on startup when the blockchain either hasn’t been sync’d yet, or is quite a bit behind, which cause zcashd to take longer starting up.

You can get around it by starting zcashd.exe manually in a terminal window, preferably PowerShell, with the command:

c:\Program Files\zcash4win\app\zcashd.exe -daemon=0 -showmetrics=1

It’ll display the block height that its sync’d to, and you can compare that against a block explorer like https://zcha.in, and once it has caught up, launch the GUI.

You need to create the zcash.conf file manually as the error message says. Create directory %APPDATA%\Zcash and a text file zcash.conf in it with the following content:

addnode=mainnet.z.cash
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=SomePassword_PleaseChangeThisValue

Something seems off. Did you use the installer? It should have done all of this for you.

I did it before…
But the wallet was not opened by the zcash4win.exe, but now it finally works :slight_smile:
