Zero-knowledge Audiovisual Club (Zk Av Club)

Zk Av Club is not a production company.

We are a network of freelancers, students, and curious individuals who learn by doing—often while creating audiovisual content that supports both local and global communities.

At Zero-knowledge Audiovisual Club (Zk Av Club), members may collaborate on original content or artistic projects, but our core purpose goes beyond production. We exist to coordinate within and between communities—empowering them with knowledge, tools, and experience to amplify their voices and tell their own stories.

Zk Av Club is a grassroots approach to community audiovisual documentation and publicity.

Many assume that community event AV production is just about recording or livestreaming speakers on a stage. While traditional media focuses on polished, staged presentations, our approach is deeper and more participatory. Sure, we can document panels and keynotes—but that’s just the surface. Remote audiences may expect stage recordings, but communities deserve more.

Production companies can’t truly document a community. Not really.
Traditional media may reflect events—but rarely the spirit. Communities themselves—not just their designated speakers—are the true measure of an event’s value. When only select voices are recorded, much of the real story is lost. We owe it to our communities to do better.

Only communities can document themselves.
Only they can represent themselves authentically in archives and publicity.

Zk Av Club exists to bridge that gap—not as an external media service, but as participants embedded in the community. We equip people with the skills, tools, and confidence to share their own narratives—honestly, inclusively, and with context.

Rather than produce polished but detached media, we facilitate storytelling that reflects the collective experience—voices often unheard, stories often untold. The result? Community-generated content archives that are meaningful, not just marketable.

Zk Av Club isn’t just a media collective. It’s a movement for community self-representation. By supporting communities in documenting their own experiences, we help preserve voices, perspectives, and memories that would otherwise be overlooked.

The future of storytelling belongs to those who live it.
Join us to make sure every community has the tools to share its voice.

Zk Av Club Foundry Workshops!

Through the Zk Av Club Foundry livestream series, we’ve been pulling apart how we capture, stream, edit, and pass on what we know. Now, we’re passing the mic. We’ve released guidelines for community-led workshops—your chance to take what we’ve explored together and carry it to your own people.

This isn’t performance. It’s transfer. Restream a meetup so the ones who couldn’t be there still feel it. Run live transcription so nothing gets lost. Cut clips sharp enough to move on their own. Build your own recording station. Strip the hiss from an interview until it’s clean. Pick the skills your community needs most, and teach them.

Do it live, where questions can derail your plan in the best way. Make sure it’s recorded so the value doesn’t vanish when the stream stops. You’ll get 200 EUR in ZEC, but the real win is patching the gaps before they turn into cracks.

The steps are simple:

  • Choose a topic from the Foundry sessions (or twist one into something new)
  • Make it clear, useful, and impossible to ignore
  • Lock the date, rehearse, and go live

We’ll run translation if you need it. We’ll push promotion if you send us a thumbnail, a description, and the links.

The future holds better when more of us know how to build it.

Apply here and make sure your people have the tools before they need them.

Announcing our new Co‑captains of Zk Av Club Foundry Workshops!

We’re thrilled to announce @AuraBritoSM and @gordonesTV as our new Zk Av Club Foundry Workshop Co‑captains. :tada:

Together, they’ll co‑lead our community‑led workshop program—keeping proposals moving, details tidy, and the vibe friendly and inclusive.

More on what the co‑captains do

  • Communicate with workshop leads: welcomes, scheduling, updates, and follow‑ups.

  • Keep the timeline & calendar clear: hold dates, avoid collisions, keep changes visible.

  • Organize assets: titles, blurbs, images, slides/links/recordings—saved and linked in the right place.

  • Make the pipeline visible: cards + status so everyone sees what’s coming.

  • Light promotion: share “up next” and “just dropped.”

  • Uphold the community vibe.

Shared ownership: Either captain can move things forward and will loop me in on anything sensitive or outside the guidelines.

Success looks like: Clear comms, trustworthy dates/links, recorded outcomes, a board that reflects reality, and a steady rhythm on socials.

I’ve shut down the Zk Av Club Discord. It hasn’t served us—or brought me joy—for a long time, and, frankly, it never reflected our values. I won’t be reopening it. If we regroup elsewhere, I’ll share details here. Thanks for understanding.

Greetings, everyone!

Those who have already applied, please pay close attention, because we have begun the process of contacting you through your wallets. Please check your messages.

And for those who have not yet applied, there is still time! Let’s make our communities shine with these workshops.

Zk Av Club is not an online community

It’s a practice: time‑boxed, on‑the‑ground activations under the Zero-knowledge Audiovisual (Zk Av) Club moniker. Teams form around an event or idea; we document our communities — advancing FOSS and decentralization — publish what’s useful, then stand down. No forever-forums, no idle Discord. People, stories, tools.

Our north star is freedom tech. Projects rotate; our commitment does not.

An idea spins up: calls go out, goals set, scope locks. We document the people, the stakes, and the why. We produce for posterity first, return assets to the commons, then the team dissolves. The work stays. We optimize for collaboration over speed.

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” — African proverb

Contributions are open, voluntary, and peer‑reviewed — like any healthy repo. Join for recording, editing, sound, research, distribution, translation, or ops. We credit contributors with attribution and design for low‑friction onboarding. Some activations include bounties or stipends for consistent contributors. Participation never hinges on payroll.

Why we work this way — our roots are FOSS

Our “code” is footage, cuts, transcripts, and pipelines. The four essential freedoms of FOSS are our operating rules:

  • Freedom 0: Run it. Watch, screen, embed, and teach with it. Any purpose. No gatekeeping.

  • Freedom 1: Study & change it. We publish source where possible: notes, audio, video, transcripts, timelines, stills, and lessons. Learn the craft. Fork the workflow.

  • Freedom 2: Share it. Mirror files. Seed torrents. Help it travel.

  • Freedom 3: Remix it. Re‑cut, translate, annotate, re‑score — and release back to the commons.

FOSS gave us the freedoms. We turn them into moving images and community memory. The work stays open. Knowledge compounds. Teams rotate.

What “open by default” means

Publish in public repos when safe. Create reproducible builds (deterministic renders, templates, clear how‑tos). Credit contributors like maintainers, not tally followers. Design for remix (clean metadata, split stems, exportable timelines), and preserve consent (approvals, sensitive‑material handling, contextual redactions).

Where we show up

We contribute across projects we believe in. We aren’t tied to a stack or scene — we’re committed to freedom tech in all forms: FOSS, decentralized protocols, encryption, open standards, public goods, and adjacent open hardware.

  • People over platforms. If it expands user freedom, we show up.

  • Build first, leave the playbook. We publish assets, open comms, and leave repeatable how‑tos.

  • No capture. We disclose relationships, avoid extraction, and don’t shill.

  • Bridge ecosystems. We clarify terms and reuse assets across activations when it helps local communities and newcomers.

From ethos to fieldcraft

In‑person gatherings spark ideas — and lose them to history. Top‑down coverage flattens voices; after‑the‑fact recaps miss the moment; the best conversations never hit a camera. We want the opposite: self‑representation and assets that return to the commons.

So we design for real‑world constraints — noisy rooms, high energy, shifting schedules — and consent that’s honored, not assumed. The constraints shape the tool:

  • Small footprint. Flexible and autonomous by design.

  • Open by default. CC BY‑SA 4.0 with credits and metadata.

  • Remixable outputs. Clean stems and project files, ready to fork.

  • Clean exit. Hand off assets, credits, and maintainership pointers so others can keep building together.

From principles to practice

We’re not building an audience; we’re building a repeatable, sustainable practice that returns value to the commons. Each activation is finite — scoped, consent‑first, and documented so others can pick it up and run. If you care about freedom tech and you’re willing to team up, there’s a role: recording, editing, sound, research, distribution, translation, ops.

Propose an activation or join one in motion, follow the flow, publish under CC BY-SA 4.0, and credit everyone who touched the work.

This is how we keep ideas from dying in hallways and make community memory others can build upon. Open by default. Consent at the center. Credits that move with the work. No capture. If you want to go far, go together. See you in the field.
