I just submitted my Zcash Community Grants (@ZCG) proposal and wanted to post here for visibility + community feedback.

This is a 2026 proposal focused on continuing Zk Av Club work with the Zcash communities (media + archiving + support), with clear milestones and reporting outlined.

The Audiovisual Club is a reference point for how to build community ties with other projects beyond Zcash, construct an audiovisual memory, and help create and understand the narratives that exist around Zcash.

Understanding how we see ourselves, how we evolve, and how others see us is a way to shape who we are as a privacy-oriented community.

Zk Av Club adds value by generating innovative strategies to help build global communities in the blockchain sector, spreading the message of Zcash in innovative ways regardless of physical, cultural, or linguistic boundaries.

On the other hand, it provides support for events and helps produce an audiovisual library for Zcash.

I believe it is essential to continue supporting this project because of all the value it has added and proposes to continue adding.

I support this proposal and I hope it gets approved!

When looking for a place to publish our video demos for the Zenith wallet (that is not a corporate walled garden), it took some time to find a PeerTube instance that was both open to new channels and willing to post crypto content.

Having a platform for the community where our content can be shared without demanding you log in and disable your ad blockers would be a huge benefit.

Reject dependence on a single infrastructure or authority.
Commit to federated and replicable networks that strengthen community resilience.

Privacy and Care
No tracking of users.
No collection of unnecessary data.
Digital security is part of community care.

Education as a Common Good
Content is not optimized for clicks or artificial retention.
Pedagogical, cultural, and social value is prioritized.

Community before platform
Technology serves the community, not the other way around.

We are not a social network.

We are not a monetization platform.

We are not a repository without editorial criteria.

We don’t compete for attention; instead, we offer a space for learning.

Commitment
Our commitment to what we want:
Ad-free.
Surveillance-free.

Open to collaboration.

Sustainable through community.

Our responsibility:
Documenting the infrastructure.

Facilitating others learning to replicate the system.

Key principle:
Avoiding “locked-up knowledge.”
No selling data.

No advertising.

This proposal does not seek indefinite growth,
but rather to take root, replicate, and nurture shared knowledge.

Thank you @pitmutt :raised_fist: Peertube offers many freedoms to Zcash community content creators and viewers! Also, we’ll have a place to send newcomers for videos about Zcash — by Zcashers (as opposed to the bull$hit that comes back in a YT search nowadays)

ZKAV: ZCG 2026 — Month 1 Report (Milestone 1)

1) Summary

This grant is the first significant funding for the Zk Av Club Recording Station. With the proposal approved at the beginning of the year, our first month prioritized the admin/orga and operational foundations we need to handle recordings made in 2025 and run activations reliably through 2026.

In parallel, we shipped the public-facing “how this works” layer for Recording Station + PeerTube so the community can influence where volunteer media support happens, understand how to participate, and know how consent and archiving work before anything is published.

Quick update: we’re building a Zcash-focused PeerTube instance as a community-run, privacy-respecting home for Zcash ecosystem videos (starting with Zcon + ZecHub). The goal is to make it easy to watch/share without defaulting to YouTube/Google tracking.

What to watch for next: we’re publishing usage assumptions by Feb 28 (how many vids, typical file sizes, expected view spikes) and choosing the domain, then starting provisioning + install. MVP target is Mar 31 (see tracker).

Domain suggestions wanted: what should the PeerTube instance URL be? Drop domain ideas in the comments. Bonus points if it’s short, readable on mobile, and feels like a long-term “home” for Zcash video! We’ll pick one soon.

Quick updates: Recording Station volunteer kit, Zcash PeerTube plan, 2 new paid roles (apps soon), event-selection polls, and the 2026 Zk Av Club Workshops program.
