I am Batuhan, and I am officially announcing my candidacy for the Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) Committee.
For over a year, I have been serving as the Zcash Turkey Community Manager and an active ZCAP member. During this time, I have aimed to raise awareness of Zcash by directly engaging with the community, supporting users, and increasing ecosystem participation. When my first proposal was rejected, I continued to work diligently without stepping back and eventually got my second proposal accepted. This experience has shown me the importance of discipline, transparency, and determination — values I will carry into the ZCG.
Why am I speaking up?
I have had the opportunity to observe and review many topics. I follow every development in the ecosystem and actively engage where I can. I am committed to being fair and thorough in ensuring the proper use of resources.
I deeply respect every current ZCG member.
Focus Areas in ZCG
Thorough evaluation of projects: Carefully analyze all incoming proposals, gather feedback from the community, and conduct necessary research.
Efficient use of resources: Ensure that grants contribute maximally to the ecosystem.
Transparency and accountability: Share the reasoning behind decisions clearly with the community.
Global inclusivity: Support contributors from diverse regions and backgrounds.
Regarding English
I am not fluent in English. However, I am confident that I can fully participate in meetings and evaluation processes using translation tools and preparatory methods.
I am ready to work in a disciplined and transparent manner, fully committed to Zcash’s mission.
I enjoy working as a community manager and am eager to become more involved in the ecosystem. Perhaps this application will lay the groundwork for future developments; I aim to remain a lasting contributor to the Zcash ecosystem and add meaningful value.
I also want to emphasize that my goal of expanding the Turkish community to a wider audience is ongoing.
A candid admission:
I have only been part of this community for one year. I feel this candidacy might be somewhat early. Still, I believe I can contribute to ZCG’s vision and mission in line with my goals. Community-focused improvements and innovations hold great meaning for me. Whether in 1 year or 3 years, you will likely see me actively contributing here again.
When we think about the question in detail, the most accurate answer I can give regarding my country is this: a system that works similarly to a banking application. An “Easy Address” feature—where people can send ZEC quickly using names—would make adoption much easier. This could function like a nickname-based system.
Looking at the age distribution, most crypto-interested individuals in Türkiye fall within the 25–50 age range. Major crypto events are already being held in the country.
I’m not sure if I explained the system in my mind clearly, but if someone has a Zancas wallet and I want to send them money, I should be able to do it instantly, just like in a banking app. The banking analogy is something people in Türkiye are very familiar with.
According to 2025 data, Türkiye’s crypto ownership rate is 25.6% (about one in every four people). Crypto usage is widespread in Türkiye, and wallets that offer Turkish language support always attract more users.
Of course, such a system should not come at the cost of privacy. While this approach may be acceptable for transparent addresses, a more neutral and cautious design is necessary for shielded addresses.
I’m simply trying to express the public’s perspective. People in the country are overwhelmed by inflation. Türkiye is an economically strong nation, but what people genuinely need is privacy.
FPF SHALL conduct periodic reviews of the organizational structure, performance, and effectiveness of the ZCG program and committee, taking into consideration the input and recommendations of the ZCG Committee. As part of these periodic reviews, FPF MUST commit to exploring the possibility of transitioning ZCG into an independent organization if it is economically viable and it aligns with the interests of the Zcash ecosystem and prevailing community sentiment.
Since you will be evaluating many types of projects, how do you evaluate FPF: periodic reviews of the organizational structure, performance, and effectiveness which ZCG pays FPF to conduct and where do Zcash Community Members find this information?
Should the Zcash Community Grants be an independent Zcash Entity?
Hello again, everyone.
I have decided to withdraw my application, which I submitted with great enthusiasm and with the intention of contributing more to the Zcash ecosystem.
First of all, I apologize if I occupied the agenda for the past two days. I should have taken a step back and thought things through more calmly.
I have only just completed my first year in Zcash, and with my own efforts (and my team’s), we managed to build a community from scratch. However, I still believe we need to work much more actively to take the Turkish community to a better level. When applying for membership, I truly believed I would be able to analyze the ecosystem’s needs correctly and vote accordingly.
But after thinking it over, I realized that if I took on this role, I wouldn’t be able to maintain the strong connection I currently have with the Turkish community — and that concerned me. I believe some people need to stay on the ground, continue developing their local communities, and make concrete progress. And I think right now, I am that person.
I don’t want to neglect our community in Türkiye when there is such a strong need for financial privacy.
Therefore, I would like to apologize to all of you and announce that I am withdrawing my candidacy.
I would also like to note that once I achieve more concrete progress and growth within the Turkish community, I will run again.
I wish the best of luck to the current members and the new candidates.
The Zcash community is growing, and we will continue working to represent the project in the best possible way here in TĂĽrkiye.
