Quick confession: for months, people told me they couldn’t find CipherScan. Not because it was down, because they typed zipherscan, cypherscan, cyphrscan… and ended up somewhere else, or nowhere. The name also shared its space with other projects, so search wasn’t helping either.
So it has a new name. CipherScan is now ZecBlock.
Same project. Same code, same indexer, same person answering your questions. Easier to spell, easier to find, and Zcash right in the name.
What changed
Not just the logo. The whole interface was rebuilt, desktop and mobile.
- Make the homepage yours. Every homepage card has a Customize menu: recent blocks, shielded activity, top miners, mining software, Ironwood migration, shielded pool trend, forks and reorgs. The stats bar works the same way. Your choices stay in your browser, nothing is sent to us.
- Ask ZecBlock (beta). Ask questions about the chain and get answers built from indexed public data, with the chart and numbers behind them. It’s a guided beta: starter questions and follow-ups, not a free-form chatbot yet.
- Charts you can share. Every chart has its own page, link and export.
- Light and dark themes, a cleaner layout, and denser data where it helps.
Everything you used before is still there: the Ironwood tracker, privacy analytics, cross-chain swaps, mempool, mining, fork monitoring.
What you need to do
Nothing, mostly.
- Links: every old cipherscan.app link redirects to the same page on zecblock.com. Bookmarks, shared transactions, all of it.
- API: existing
/apiendpoints keep working, so there’s nothing to change today but recommended to do so soon. New integrations should use v1 (/v1/...).
API Docs - Data bot: now @zecblock_bot. Same feed: shielded pool movements, Ironwood migrations, reorgs, daily stats.
The boring but important part
Nothing about privacy changed. No new analytics, no tracking, no accounts. Your preferences live in your browser. Everything is still open source.
