They already got an invite, but thanks!
Ah, cool! Then, could _bmlis from @amiller 's post get then invite? And if he too already has an invite, then to @MadeofTin. Thanks
Get their email address and send to Josh!
Is the Advisory Panel membership finalized? If not, are there any unused invitations left?
If it is not yet finalized, then I would also like an invite. I am an advocate for one of the proposals, but am also supportive of a couple of the other proposed dev funding plans. I am assuming the voting will be something like ranked choice?
I heartily support including @mlphresearch and @aristarchus in the Advisory Panel, but have already used my invite. I was surprised to realize they’re not on it already!
In general it would be useful to have an easy way to look up who’s already on the panel (including those already invited in the current round).
I asked these questions 2 months and 1 week ago and didn’t get any answers. Any chance somone finally answers them after the voting/polling starts just in a view days?
I questioned from beginning the invite only idea for the advisory panel. With me, mlphresearch and aristarchus there are at least 3 proposal makers that did not get an invite for this advisory panel. That’s more than stange while some random guy that might be even unfamilar with Zcash may have got one.
I asked for the same in other thread but got answered that the list (invited ones) is not finalized yet…
Miner voting mechanism is described in our post detailing the restart of the sentiment collection process, which you can read here. As @sonya mentioned, we’ve reached out to many mining pools and got no response until an operator reached out this week. Yes someone can rent hashpower, but that’s why this is one signal among many.
The current list is available here. By my reading none of them are “some random guy[s] that might be even unfamilar with Zcash” but your perception may differ.
We had deadlines for invites from individual panel members, which we extended briefly after the trademark delay, but we have to draw a line somewhere and I’m afraid it would be unfair to extend it again.
Moreover this is one sentiment collection of three; you’ll also have an opportunity to vote on the forum poll if your accounts are old enough (made before March 2019).
Polling is not the end-all be-all of this process. Consider that anyone could champion their own proposal. There were no restrictions on background or certification — all you needed was an idea and a forum/GitHub account to make a ZIP.
Whoever is not included in the Advisory Panel and can’t vote on the forum because their account is too young (both apply in my case) can always express their opinion by directly posting on the forum. If ZF is serious about considering community sentiment, they will surely take these additional forms of signalling into account
Thank you very much for the list, i appreciate having it posted in time.
After the new 2019 Advisory Panel list was just released i took the time to went through the list:
2018 Panel: 74 members
2019 Panel: 61 members
2019 Panel: 26 new members
2018 to 2019 Panel: 37 old members are not in the new 2019 panel
2019 Panel: People closely affilated with the ZF, ECC or founders: 21 members (incl. 2 Bolt-Lab Members)
2019 Panel: out of the 26 new members 8 are new members from either affilated with the ZF, ECC and 2 from Bolt-Labs.
I did not include the people from tendermint, cosmos, Ethereum (foundation), Horizen, Monero, etc. previous ZF grant benefitaries and such into any affilated to category.
