EWBF's NVidia CUDA Zcash miner 1060 - 170 h/s gtx 1070 - 250 h/s

Make this a ‘sticky’… So everyone can see it.

…edit… talking about the --pec addition

Does this look decent?

Don’t leave MSI afterburner up…save it,… close it,… then restart the miner.

What OS are you using? I have the same problem with GPU3 stopping a lot. And I am using Simplemining OS.

I am using Windows 10, and I have the same issue with GPU2… I think it might be the riser, or the PSU not having enough power to supply anymore.

Anyone has a list of error codes? What is error code 4 and 46?

I’ve replace many risers and that is not it. Move the cards to different slots and it doesn’t matter still get GPU3 stopped. But today I said frek it. I pulled GPU3 out started rig back up. Then I got GPU3 stopped again so I pulled that one out. tried again. And got GPU2 stopped. So I pulled that. Now I have 3 GPU’s running stable. But WTF I lost 3 cards. It’s not the cards. This rig ran for 72 hours straight. But it was low on SOLS. But it ran. I don’t understand.

No. 2 slot 16x
No. 3 slot 1x
No. 7 slot 16x

Update just lost

No. 3 slot 1x
No. 7 slot 16x

@jpl

Curious about this. Can you explain why leaving the OC software running while mining would induce a crash? If I’m misunderstanding your point, I’m sorry…but in that case, could you be more specific? I ask because I’ve always left my Precision XOC software running while mining and had no problems.

I am also investigating this… I have this “new” rig with 3 GPUs, 2 are directly connected PCIe 16x, and the third one is using a riser to connect to 1x, and I get the exact same error… even if we are using different OS and GPUs!

I know that high overclocks can cause the GPU to stop. The guy that made Simplemining told me that. But with SMOS theres a problem controlling power setting and overclocks of Nvidia cards. He said that I am using a slow USB stick. He just made an update that

But in my case it did nothing. I can not change any of the settings.

I forgot to share, I went to “default values” (e.g. No overclocking / No Overtemperature) and still happening the Error 4 / Error 46 issue.

I change my Power Scheme so that there is no PCIe Power Management done (correct term would be PCIe ASPM (Active State Power Managment)), and this has “delayed” the error that is now hapenning every hour instead of every 5 minutes.

I have only had that error 4 once. I am not sure about the jpl answer, that dont leave overclocking software open. Might be it, might not. I have it open and changing settings quite often and it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

But first i would recommend updating your Lan adapter drivers. And when on windows 10, then most defenitly update that aswell. After updating to ver 1703 + the Lan drivers, i have had close to zero, if not zero problems for two months. Also, don’t use wifi as the internet connection. And updating you motherboard bios and chipset drivers couldn’t hurt aswell.

Good luck

Hey,… just mentioned that because while I was editing my Afterburner settings it all started crapping out. Probably just user error here.

If you over overheating at default settings… not sure. How much space is between your cards? I have an open air box with almost 2 inches between cards. If you have the FE cards which blow out the back, maybe you can have them closer?.. these get really hot!!

If you ask me. I think some of those 10xx cards are problematic. My only 1060 3GB with Hynix VRAM (rest all 900 Series) makes problems. No way I could achieve with this one the MH’s in ETH as I am supposed to. 18MH/s max (stable).
In Zcash it works well. But never as efficient as folks get here.

Also I am surprised how much I can reach with the good 970’s in Ethereum.
21 and more at less than 140Watt. Depends on the VRAM a lot.
I am stocking up 970’s. They are very cheap to get here. Even with 1 year warranty the ASUS one for 120 today. (Payback around 120-150 Days). Soon I will set up a dedicated 970 Rig. With downgraded Drivers on the dedicated Rig I am supposed to get even +5% more.

I also found a very profitable coin I like for them. Where they fit just perfectly.

ehri,

What you write is REALLY interesting to me due to the following reasons:

  1. I have never had an issue with a 1060 card (that is the only 10XX card I have used for mining until now).
  2. I have isolated and the error 4 with EWBF ZCash miner was resolved as soon as I disconnected the only 970 card that I have. So my logic was THE OPPOSITE: I should get rid of the 970 to get only 10XX cards.
  3. I have never been able to mine more than 7MH/s ETH with the 970… what miner and pool are you using? I love that the 970 gives me 300 Sol when overclocked (I am using a EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX2 card).
  4. Where are you getting the 970 at $120??? I agree with you, at that price, a Rig should be done with just 970!

In case someone is still reading… I have been able to isolate the error 4 with EWBF ZCash miner in the 970 using a riser version 5. I just bought and I am waiting for the new ones version 7 to see if that is the problem. Also, my PSU (Power Supply Unit) is heating a lot… could it be that at a peak, the PSU simply runs out of power? So, I also bought a second PSU and I am going to daisychain them.

Finally, I bougth the new ASrock H110 btc Pro+ Motherboard… I just LOVED the idea that a company would realease a MB (Motherboard) designed for mining! In case someone has not seen it:

Will post in 10 days that I receive the new risers, PSU and MB, how all is working!

Hi meem

Sorry OT

My 1060 3GB is only stable at ETH below 18MH. But then I could at least lower Power usage to 75watt. Since this card is Isolated mining ETH → no Problems. Claymore just restarts itself.

Nvidia Inspector shows Power usage and lets you overclock the 970 VRAM. There it also shows wattage.

This guy gets over 22 GTX 970 Pushed to the Limit - Mining Ethereum at 23.07 Mh/s - YouTube

It was mining Musicoin with Nvidia Inspector adjustements (VRAM 3800) at over 21 MH/s (970 EVGA) 1060 was still around 18 MH/s possible. So it seems like 970’s are great for New Etherium Coins.
At ETH (ethermine pool) I get around 15 so it seems not worth it there yet. Maybe with the old drivers the guy in the Video Link explains.

To overclock VRAM. Start Nvidia Inspector and Afterburner. Before starting the miner-> set Memclock at Afterburner to +700. Then at Inspector → Show overklocking → OK → choose card → set P2 State → Klick Unlock Max → Set Mem Clock to start at 3700 → start miner → try to MEM overclock more → eventually adjust Core Clock and Power to find a sweet spot. Nvidia GTX Ethereum Mining Increase 15% - 20% 5x 970 SSC, 1x 1070 SC - YouTube

The ASUS STRIX card I got here (Switzerland) recently has Hynix but it can also be overclocked to 3800 like the Samsung EVGA, but…!!! does not get the same Hashrates which seems kind of odd to me. All settings were the same but still lower output. The only difference I recognised was shown also in the Nvidia Inspector. MCU usage is lower and I at least could use lesser watts. why?

I would love to run mine at 65 tdp but they crash below 95
I checked it on what to mine where they say that 3 1080 should give me 1650 sols on 65% +150 gpu/ +500 vram…but I’m miles away from achieving that nice config… I am using win 10 and msi afterburner.

I do care about nature and saving resources even though I pay low cost electricity but I’ve got no idea how to tune those gtx’s

@project I got it right, but like I said here on this reply I’d like to make use of efficiency and don’t want to burn up my cards
I got them in a basement (I will install a exhaust soon) and it’s about to be summer soon so saving some degrees(and ac power) would be pretty awesome
I am still experimenting and learning as my vcards stop working some times.

so you have 3 gtx1080!?

Yeah that’s right @Uche32
I had enough money just for those cards and the rest of the system
There’s not much availability on hardware where I live and there was almost no difference in the price between a 1070 and a 1080 so…I went for the 80’s

@jpl Hey! I’ve been dealing with that same annoying error for over a week!
I will try your fix, some guys here told me to check the quality of the usb’s as the ones that come with the risers are not of the best…pretty much quite the contrary, they say
