Genoil's ZEC Miner

but lets try to figure out why. do you guys think the more memory lanes i use the better? or is it purely based on CPU speed

personally i do think its CPU related, but Im buying 16GB ram to test that theory out in the meantime

I will shut down one rig and move the memory to the other rig to test it.

But I also think that a better cpu can result in higher hashes with silentarmy kernel.

i am doing the same. will post results

Still crash ZEC Miner after some time with new setting -i 20 -w 64

Same speed , no improvements.

Must be the cpu , the more cores / threads the better it can handle the workload from gpu’s.

but when i went to a single 4gb stick ddr4 2133 ram, my sol/s on rx470 dropped to 15 from 27 avg
so it does partially have something to do with it
maybe its cuz duel lanes for memory or whatever help??

Still crashing after some time.
Awesome work Genoil, but plz include some autorestarts, so we dont lose time idling.

The .bat file doesnt work here. It doesnt detect chars in the file output.txt. so does nothing.

Looks like 4gb is not enough to handle all processes , but 8 gb is just right - so 16gb won’t be an improvement.

essentially you seem to need around 1-1.5gigs ram per card or something
but when watching resources as it mines mine only use less than 2 GB so i dont understand

exactly, i have 4gb (although i just noticed its DDR2 !) but only 1.1taken with miner running
i will try this on my ddr 4 rig lol

i noticed a significant differance between 1 stick and 2 sticks of 4gb ram with ddr4 2133
i dont think its because of more memmory i think its because the cpu has more lanes to talk to with another memory lane in use

Dont buy more RAM, you dont need it just increase your Virtual Memory to like 32GB.

are you sure more memmory lanes doesnt increase speed? say, 2X2GB sticks vs 1X4gb stick in a MOBO
edit:foresure it lowered my i5 cpu speed from 24sol/s to 15sol/s by taking 1 4gb stick of ddr4 2133 out
when i have 2 in i get 24sol/s constant
now that is for cpu miner only, IDK how it will effect the genoil gpu miner thats what i want to figure out

No idea but I am pretty sure it doesn’t communicate with the RAM but instead the GPUs DDR5RAM which is the fastest. That’s the way GPU mining is designed, its meant to only communicate with GPU RAM because its the fastest.

@jdh015232 so between your i5 and my E21** you have like 3 sol more, i dont think cpu is the reason then

version 0.4 is fine but 0.5 has too big CPU usage - there is some leak.

on i7 - 280x cards hit 30 sols
on worse cpu - 20 max + crushes.

sp while the 0.5 has better sols it uses too much CPU for some reason which is not needed on GPU mining.

please check.

windows 7. 15.12 drivers as usual.

tested this alot. -i 16 18 19 gives BSOD. only -i 20 works but due to CPU just 20 sols.

my i5 is not my big rigs it only has one card is the problem
all my big rigs have crappy celeron processor and 1 stick of 4gb ram and all are unstable, work half time, crash half time all kinds of errors. idk if its the crappy cpu or more ram

0.5 is working fine for me on a 470. I still get the occasional:

Hi,

I keep getting “error: clGetDeviceIDs” on a newly installed Win7.
I’ve installed almost every service pack and reinstalled the driver several times but it doesn’t go away and the miner doesn’t start.

Any idea how to resolve this?

Thanks.
