Grant Application: Zblind (formerly Zash), free open-source Zcash education bot and channel in Spanish

Hi everyone,

I have just submitted a grant application to ZCG for Zash, a free and open-source Telegram bot that teaches Zcash from scratch to Spanish speakers in Spain and Latin America.

Application: Grant Application - Zblind (formerly Zash): free, open-source Zcash education bot and channel in Spanish · Issue #505 · ZcashCommunityGrants/zcashcommunitygrants · GitHub
Bot: Telegram: Launch @ZblindBot (formerly @ZashCash_bot)

Zash is already live. It shows the ZEC price in 15 local currencies and on Maya Protocol, has a 10-lesson course including Ironwood (NU6.3), a privacy guide, alerts, shielded supply per pool and questions answered from verified facts. No premium, no ads, no investment advice.

The grant ($9,600 in 4 milestones over 6 months) would add a public Spanish Telegram channel, a community-reviewed course, wallet guides for shielding and migrating to Ironwood, and outreach to Spanish-speaking communities. To be transparent: it launched on 14 October and has very few users so far, so most of the work is about reaching people and reporting real numbers.

I would love feedback, and if you speak Spanish and want to review the lessons, please reply here.

Thanks!

Update: the project has been renamed from Zash to Zblind. The bot is now @ZblindBot and the repository is GitHub - 5wt6fw45nt-design/zblind: Zblind 🛡️ Zcash en español (antes Zash): bot de Telegram gratis y de código abierto para aprender Zcash desde cero (precio en tu moneda, curso, privacidad, alertas, red) · GitHub. The old links still work and redirect.

Why: “Zash” was too close to Zashi, the wallet the course recommends to beginners. Telegram and Discord are full of fake bots and fake support accounts that rely on that kind of confusion, and a project that teaches privacy and safety should never be mistaken for an official Zcash product or look like it is imitating one. It still has very few users, so this was the cheapest moment to fix it. “Zblind” does not use the Zcash or ZEC names. It comes from blinded values in cryptography and sounds like “blindado”, the Spanish word for shielded.

What does not change: the scope, the budget ($9,600) and the four milestones are exactly the same. Wherever the application says Zash, read Zblind. Existing users keep their alerts and course progress, and the old @ZashCash_bot only points to @ZblindBot.

Because of the reason behind the rename, I am also adding two things at no extra cost and outside the milestones: a button to check whether a link, a wallet or a Telegram account looks like a known fake, and a lesson on spotting fake wallets, bots and support accounts. I will post here when they are live.

Happy to answer any questions from the committee.

Hi, Augusto! It’s a pleasure to say hello and see a Spanish-speaking member developing and proposing ideas for the Spanish-speaking Zcash community. I see you don’t have many users to test your proposal and provide feedback. I invite you to join the active Zcash in Spanish on Telegram community, so you can tell us about your bot and invite the community to try it out and share their feedback.

¡Te esperamos!

In your proposalt, you say:

Spanish is the second most spoken native language in the world, and Telegram is one of the main places where Spanish-speaking crypto users learn and talk. Zcash content in Spanish is scarce, scattered and often outdated, especially after the Ironwood (NU6.3) shielded pool launched on 28 July 2026.

For the past 4 years, the Spanish-speaking Zcash community has been creating informative and educational content about Zcash, updated through October 2026.

This information has been created by the Zcash en Español team, as well as by members of the Spanish-speaking community through collaborative efforts and tasks on Dework.

You can check out our website (blog) and YouTube channels.

Additionally, we are currently collaborating on the Spanish translation of the book My First Zcash and reviewing the Spanish translation of the ZecHub website, which is now available in Spanish.

I’m sharing this information to clarify that there is a wealth of content about Zcash in Spanish. In any case, this bot would serve as a complement to everything that already exists. Not to mention programs like Zcash 360°, ZK Radio, and the Zcash Club meetups (Mexico, Venezuela, Spain), where people are educated and informed about Zcash.

You’re invited to join the community to run any tests you need and get feedback from its members.

I think this can help you refine your proposal and continue improving the bot.
