Imagining a Better Zcash Inside Blockchain

Privacy is the default, not the destination

When the first global network structure, the web, appeared, we enjoyed communities inside those networks. That was all.
We gathered in places like AOL, Minitel, NIFTY-Serve, and Hitel simply to talk with other people.
We were not using those networks to trade stocks or cryptocurrencies.
We were not playing large 3D online games.

|

But when the second global network structure, blockchain, appeared, it was already talking about money and financial transactions from the very beginning.

~
the people who built the first global network infrastructure created a place where people could gather and talk.
AND
The people managing many blockchain networks today, which appeared 20 or 30 years later, encouraged people to speculate on top of those networks.
~

The difference between these two approaches is enormous.

Let me explain it in a simpler way.

|

Imagine that you get married and have two children, a son and a daughter.
You send both of them to school (network).
The school (network) attended by your son is filled with books for reading and studying.
The school (network) attended by your daughter is filled with knives, spears, traps, and hunting tools.
|

Both children go to school (network) every day.

What do you think will happen after three years?

Of course, even under the same conditions, different children will react in different ways.
That is not the point.

|

Think about it.
Today, we are heavily influenced by algorithms on platforms such as YouTube.
Social structures and human relationships are being reshaped by them.
We are all exposed to these systems, and each of us responds differently.
But the important thing is that the structure itself influences us.

|

That is why we need to understand the structures that have been designed around us.
The environment does not completely determine human behavior, but it strongly shapes the range of possible outcomes.

|

If we want to understand where a society is heading, we must first understand the incentives, tools, and structures that people interact with every day.

(Don’t forget the first groups that succeeded in the market according to the original intentions of the creators of the web.)

  1. Binance and Coinbase are deeply involved in the blockchain industry, but I will exclude them because they are centralized exchanges (CEXs).
In that case, apart from those examples, is there any project that comes close to the ideas discussed above and can be considered successful from the perspective of network structure?

  2. Or what projects come to mind that people actually use directly, while being deeply connected to the blockchain network itself rather than simply serving as places for speculation or trading?
In other words, do you think there are any blockchain-based networks that have become environments where people gather, interact, build communities, or carry out meaningful activities beyond financial speculation?

  3. We have experienced both the first network, the web, and the second one.
Is it possible to combine these two into one?
(I am not suggesting that we create a cryptocurrency exchange.)
