Blockchain Bridger has been a grassroots initiative aimed at spreading Web3 and blockchain education across communities. This grant would allow us to expand our reach and introduce Zcash’s privacy features into the local community, with the potential to scale to other regions.

Additional Funding

We are currently seeking further support from local and international blockchain organizations to ensure the sustainability of this project. Our goal is to integrate Zcash into the daily operations of local businesses, with plans for further collaboration to make it a staple in the region’s digital economy.

If awarded, we will feature Zcash in all Blockchain Bridger educational programs, demonstrating its practical applications in real-world scenarios. We plan to integrate Zcash into payment systems, leveraging its privacy features to improve financial autonomy and security for local entrepreneurs.

Applicant Background

I’m Alice, the founder of Blockchain Bridger, a platform dedicated to Web3 and blockchain education. My experience includes deploying smart contracts, hosting blockchain meetups, and collaborating on NFT projects. With a passion for empowering communities, I’ve built a growing developer forum and hosted educational webinars that reached hundreds of participants.

Description of Problem or Opportunity

Opportunity: Western Kenya has significant potential for blockchain adoption, yet faces challenges in accessing relevant knowledge and tools. The region’s businesses, developers, and students lack education about the privacy benefits of technologies like Zcash. This initiative will directly address these gaps, enabling communities to adopt Zcash as a tool for privacy, secure payments, and financial inclusion.

Problem: Many communities in Western Kenya are underserved when it comes to blockchain education. There is limited access to resources that teach privacy technologies, such as Zcash, and misconceptions about cryptocurrencies persist due to negative associations with scams and unverified projects.

The Blockchain Bridger initiative presents an opportunity to:

Increase Zcash’s visibility in emerging markets, directly addressing skepticism through educational programs and real-world applications.

Build trust by integrating Zcash into local businesses and educational settings, demonstrating its value as a secure, privacy-focused solution.

The success of the Blockchain Bridger Initiative in Western Kenya relies on a robust, technical foundation designed to facilitate the seamless adoption and integration of Zcash into the local ecosystem. By leveraging a combination of educational resources, developer tools, and real-world use cases, we will ensure that participants not only understand Zcash but are also equipped to apply it in practical scenarios.

The technical framework of this initiative includes

  1. Infrastructure for Developer Education: We will provide hands-on workshops and tutorials that teach developers how to interact with the Zcash blockchain using common tools such as Zcashd, Z-cli, and Zecwallet. Additionally, we will offer comprehensive guides for integrating Zcash into decentralized applications (dApps), ensuring that developers are able to build on top of the blockchain in a way that maximizes privacy and security.
  2. Platform Selection for Education and Collaboration: Workshops and webinars will be hosted on secure, decentralized platforms such as Jitsi, PeerTube, and Matrix, ensuring that the focus on privacy is maintained throughout the educational process. These tools will be complemented by open-source resources, including code repositories on GitHub, that participants can access and contribute to.
  3. Privacy-Focused Financial Solutions: By introducing Zcash into local businesses and e-commerce platforms, we will demonstrate its utility in securing transactions while preserving user privacy. This will be supported by technical integrations of Zcash payments into online and point-of-sale systems, using Zcash APIs and wallet solutions like Zecwallet and Zcon2.
  4. Decentralized Storage and Communication: The project will make use of decentralized storage technologies such as IPFS and secure communication tools like Matrix to ensure the privacy of participants and reduce reliance on centralized platforms. These tools will also be integrated into the developer curriculum to showcase how they can be used alongside Zcash for fully decentralized systems.
  5. Continuous Technical Support: The Blockchain Bridger platform will serve as an ongoing technical resource for developers and businesses adopting Zcash. It will host community-driven support forums, provide real-time troubleshooting through channels such as Discord, and facilitate regular virtual meetups with Zcash experts to address specific technical challenges.
