Keystone Ironwood Support

The best thing that could happen from here is people stop panic pulling their funds from orchard and migrate to ironwood upon its release. I think messaging could be better on this. I will keep my own funds in orchard and migrate to ironwood upon its release, but for that to happen I need to know keystone will also support it from day 1. Otherwise the upgrade is rolled out and those using keystone via zodl will be LAST to migrate and be taking most of the theoretical risk, even if it is nearly zero. But none of that matters when there’s panic.

I think it would do quite a lot to quell the run on orchard at the moment if messaging regarding Keystone wallet support for Ironwood was signalled from launch.

And we must not forget that at the end of July also the new Ledger app is expected… I hope the release doesn’t get postponed and that it will support ironwood as well from day one.

Keystone will support Ironwood from day one. I asked Keystone yesterday if we can target Firmware going out no later than July 3rd, assuming Keystone-relevant code from our end is finalized by June 17th.

The upgrade will be July 21st. Every keystone necessary change I’m aware of is actually in the branch for this UI: Dev 🧪 on X: "Real migration flow against the Ironwood testnet state machine, using @KeystoneWallet on @vizorwallet ! You only scan one QR code, and it splits your note balances + pre-signs migration txs. Then your wallet submits the migration txs in the background over time. https://t.co/hE3nFSWz6X" / X

Its now on our end (Zcash core devs) to finalize two things:

  • Final ironwood signing constants
  • Final Orchard API updates

Then we can complete the hand-off to keystone team.
