i guess you can say its highly accessible compared to ERC-20 memecoins or something… but relative to truly widespread crypto coins like BTC, ETH, LTC, or DOGE, zcash still has a long way to go in accessibility terms.
yep 100% only the latter two… digital private cash is horrible. rememeber what Ray Dalio said for years “Cash is Trash”
“Zcash is highly accessible” - I think you are confusing accessibility with usability and utility. While I can easily download a Zcash wallet from the app store, obtaining ZEC and actually using it is another story. Zcash has suffered for years from the dominant attitudes that don’t align with actionable user growth beyond limited pockets and use cases.
Thanks a lot for this, both @joshs and @daira. The risk in compromising is immense. For example, I think many people don’t realize to which extent ideas like “Privacy Pools” - which on the surface seem to retain both privacy and compliance - entirely shift the power back to centralized entities.
These “compliant” privacy pools are really total nonsense. Compliant with who? For what?
What some countries will call criminals others will call dissidents/freedom fighters. It’s not up to privacy tools to make these judgments, they should remain agnostic.
You can tell they are a desperate attempt to bring bureaucracy onchain.
